Slow Connections in Windows XP SP2... reb00tz Sep 4th, 04, 09:13 AM #1 (permalink)
Hiya all,

Just a heads up: Windows XP SP2 includes a limitation for only 10 half-open TCP/IP connections... This means that anytime there are more than 10 TCP/IP open requests, then the TCP/IP stack would queue the rest...

This would affect a lot of people trying to use programs that open a lot of ports simultaneously... A good example being P2P programs...

Here is the situation:

From the horse's mouth:

And the fix:

In so far as I can say, the fix works for me. And I have no more idiotic warnings in my event journal...

Cheers!
