it is a standalone OS, u can just use the disk to clean install any Intel Macs

Apple wont tell u that, but it is a full OS at a bargain price

just ordered mine today, will be getting it on friday

according to the apple customer hotline, they mentioned that for a fresh installation, u would need to install with the original leopard this first and then use the snow leopard.

That's crap. Google and you could even find reports that Tiger users can also use the same disc and upgrade to Snow Leopard.

Anyway as for the 1st post, technically you can use the same disc and install on any Mac but legally you cant.

lol, Apple is the last place u should go for something like this...like i said, Apple wont tell u its a full install disc because they sell u at an upgrade price.

there's not a single word of "Upgrade" on the disc. It says "Install Disc" & its the same size as Leopard. beside removing the "Erase & Install" option, Apple expect ppl to be honest w/o the need to resort to serial number & authentication crap

but there's nothing stopping u from making an illegal use of it. u just have to boot into the Snow Leopard disc. use Disc Utility & erase ur Mac drive. it will then let u install a fresh copy straight away. go search the guides, there are plenty out there

Who in the right mind would choose upgrade? Of course we all do it clean. Else you'll find yourself posting on a forum like so.

Install Disc? This works for the S$48 CD only rite? because I bought mine at S$18 and find 'Upgrade DVD' word.

Is the word printed on the box/DVD itself?
This is a computer generated message, no trees were harmed, a number of electrons were, however inconvenienced. In short, no signature is required.

What you can do is to insert the disc into a Mac. See if it's similar to a typical Mac OS X upgrade DVD.

If you see something similar to the picture below, it's a high chance that it's the retail DVD.

I got this exact window when I inserted the CD in. So...highly likely it's a normal installation disc rite?
