Do you mean Apple Remote? It works on the new unibody Mac.

Apple Remote works with all Macs.
All Intel Macs have IR receiver.
If you have some G4 Mac which doesn't have infra-red receiver built-in, there are USB infra-red receivers selling on eBay.
