are you willing to have a heat sink fan on your iphone?
it should not be OS limiting but the processor limiting multitasking thing
just imagine even the smallest laptop processor(atom) need some sort of cooling now.

that's because the atom runs x86 code which is actually considered outdated, which is why you see intel keep adding extended instructions. Unfortunately, the majority as a whole uses x86, so which is why we continue using them

Most mobile based devices use ARM based processors (including Iphone). Samsung has recently released 1Ghz. Qualcomm already has a 1.3Ghz snapdragon. They all do not need heat sink fan. Some are already dual core (suitable for multi tasking)

It makes no sense to compare the processor in Iphone to that in a netbook because they are of complete different architecture

It is possible but it will incurred more power consumption result in faster battery drain through carousel rendering (scroll horizontally), so it not feasible to have this feature, however, Flash player 10.1 will do better and optimize with lower power consumption.

I hope Apple would open market for Flash since the Open Screen Project will be actively use in most mobile device early next year.

interesting observations...
Although, at first, I thought it was cool to have UI like that (especially coverflow), I didn't think of CPU usage...

too complicated. iPhone is build for it's simplicity, having the functions makes it confusing.
