for the 1st time, the iMac 27" can be used as an external display through DisplayPort Input.
yes, u can plug ur MacBook/MBP directly into it & voila! 27" monitor!

for HDMI devices, can use the HDMI - Display port cable/adaptor.

Only native devices with displayport (eg, MBP) will work. Using any dongle to convert the signal to displayport will not work.

Really hate displayport, no one in the world use, only Apple.
Then the MBP got no shortcut key on keyboard to output to external display. Really dun understand some of the design decisions made by apple.

collected my 27" iMac last night and had a few hours to play with it.
have read about the performance issues beforehand so i did a complete fresh reinstall of the OS, before doing data migration from my previous Mac.

happy to report that so far, i've not seen any performance slowdown issue.
CPU utilisation is normal, and the system feels very zippy.
played some Youtube videos, and didn't notice any slowdown.

btw, the screen is just f-ing gorgeous

flash is perfect on Windows, but somehow it has always really buggy in OS X. i always use flash blocker on safari & firefox. otherwise flash will bring my home & office machines to their knees.

no one in world use? well, Dell was the 1st to use, followed by Apple...and the rest of the industries will adopt it.

i saw the new macbook white unibody the other day...very disappointing from an aesthetically pov. The grayish bottom doesnt look nice and the frame (bezel) around the screen looks so thick and bold. IMHO
Now i dont know what to buy..

Yeah, I was stunned when i saw that. But end of the day its for work based.
Buy something u need not because of its looks. =)

MB can do what MBP is doing. The only different are the RAM Expansion Capabilities.

i mean i was looking forward to the new white macbook because i need a laptop with that specs and I like the previous white one much more than any other laptop.

Now the aesthetical reason is failing so I may as well buy a semi-new macbook pro 13" alu..i like it less than the previous white one but same as new one..
This is why im struggling

Haha, I need an apple because its UNIX based. Less chance for BSOD and base memory usage are lower and responsive.

I wonder those who bought the 27" is there any performance issue?
getting mine next week. getting the i5 instead of the i7. See no need for a CPU boost
