Suggestions. Cytoplasm Oct 29th, 09, 02:19 PM #1 (permalink)
Alright, I was considering the following factors. First for those people who wants to quote me high-end like mac pro please avoid this thread =).

My 2 Gen back MBP died on me and i send it to Apple for a check and my MBP doesnt fall into the recall batch that apple is currently on and replacement of the Logic Board costing 1.8K which is as good as getting a 13" MBP (Current).

My usage for "home" currently doesnt consist of heavy gaming but im intending to play WoW with some school friends which doesnt requires much cpu / gpu performance (if im not wrong.). Which im considering iMAC 27" (non i5/i7) model but upgrading the GPU to 4850 and ram to 8GB.

But for mobility im considering to get a MacBook with default configurations for school and for work.

OR

Should i get a MBP 15" 2.66GHz (9400M + 9600M GT with 256MB) w/ 8GB Ram which also cost the same as the above setup.

Suggestions?

If I had a spare laptop to use for school/work, I would get the iMac 27" with the 4850 upgrade. That an IF.

Otherwise would be getting the 15" MacBook Pro instead.

Yeah, that what i was thinking too. But i do not have. I dont even think MAC requires a i5/i7 with the limitation of the GPU its having =/

Best is can get both (Provided you are a rich kid).

IMO i think a Macbook would be better. As you mention mobility for school and work and the specs for Mabook Pro are not that bad.

If mobility isn't a must, I will suggest you to get an iMac. The fact that MacBook/Pro requires battery to utilize it's performance and we all know battery has lifespan.
