After 1 hour of installing etc, I am totally in love. Everythiing works.. it just works .

I set up my Home Printer (a HP Photosmart) and it was painless. I can even see the ink volumes in the Options section of the Printer without installing any software.

Installed Magic Mouse, Firefox, Dropbox, Growl etc.

Next up is VM Fusion as I need Windows for my MT4 FX trading software

Just did an update to Time Machine easily with a old 500GB hard disk. Learnt how to format for Mac. Then use Time machine to backup. Easy.

Did installation of VM Fusion. Completed very quickly. No reboot needed. Immediately I could start installation of Windows XP. And yes ironically this is the longest task I did in my Mac today. Installing Windows . Upon booting into Windows, really bored with the interface. And yes I must immediately install AVG Anti virus. Dun remember installing any Anti Virus for Mac this morning leh. Ha. Anyway it is working. Easy in Mac.

I love Mac

(just paired it up with a Samsung 2443BW today....)

After a couple of weeks of waiting for the separate shipments to arrive.... Finally I think I have completed my set up of Mac Mini when my wireless keyboard arrived yesterday. Plus also my colleague helped me bring back a Monoprice Mini Display Port to DVI adaptor (so much cheaper than Apple store) so that I can do dual display

I am very happy with my Mac Mini:

I don't think Mac OS X can write to NTFS natively.

Port23,
just wanted to ask, how is the wireless keyboard??
Does the battery last long enough?
and do you by anychance use the magic mouse?

just curious as im planning to get a similar set up, and there have been some reviews about the keyboard being too small etc...

thanks

Recent switcher? Is 2005 recent?

- reasons for getting a Mac?

I always dun like Windows as I dun like to re-install/re-format in each OS upgrade and Windows footprint tend to get fatter and also slower after months of usage. No matter what theme/skin/mod, Windows GUI is not fine and elegant.

Since Windows 95, I have been looking for alternative OS...that time, Linux still ugly and not easy to setup. So I am stuck with Windows.

- is OS X hard to get used to?

My initial getting used to is the Finder. That's all.

- do you like or hate it?

Yes I love it. Even Windows 7 dun attract me. My Mac went through Tiger, Leopard and Snow Leopard, upgraded without re-format. Each upgrade is fast and all settings are intact. I have never upgraded my hardware and the OS till today is still running fast at only 1GB RAM.

I love the way the GUI is designed. It has many small small things that make the entire OS a well-thought out OS. Can see easily that Apple looks into every detail of the OS.

The OS is not just technology, it is like an art. Dock is an clean, neat, elegant and convenient way compared to Windows' taskbar.

- would you recommend Mac to others?

Yes of course. The OS is very stable, since day one, OS X only hanged once.
