I heard that there will be a new on-line music store in Singapore besides Soundbuxx...

I think it's all you can download from the top new tracks from Universal Music catalogs for about S$10-$15 per month... Sounds not bad...

Except it's for PeeSEE !

Aiyah... maybe I shud trade in my ipod for this.... at least the music will be always new and legal....

what you think ?

only good if there are lots and lots of chinese songs and they are done properly (i.e. in the correct Chinese characters instead of some hanyu pingyin)

Apple can hire me to do the hard work of making sure and updating

What kind of Chinese music can you get ?

Mandarin, Canto-pop, Hokkien pop ?

I think Soundbuckz has some but can't find it because they have it in pinyin....

Does iTunes have them ?

I am just so sick and tired of waiting...

I want my Rihana, my duffy...

Somewhere I can get it for cheap, not asking for free...

What would be a good deal ? How much(little) would you pay for legal music ?

Hi shmuckerz,

It's a new concept, pay a small fee per month (S$10-15) and you get all the music you want, no limit !

Apple is planning to do the same (must have seen our site..), but with any luck, you won't see them here for the next ?? years.

Honestly, we like Apple but it was so frustrating to wait so long that we decided to do something better.

Worked with the major recording labels over this for a year and hammered out a great deal for everyone... good quality top hit cheap music !

Sure there is the DRM element, Apple has them too... but how else to bring the price so low .... I mean if you download 100 songs a month, that comes out to $0.10 a song, how can you beat that ?

I think subscription is the way to go, every month got new song and you want to shell out $$$ for CD an rip them ? Got no time no money.. but can afford callerID... $10-15 is not too much to ask.

Also the ownership issue is moot point, in today's new media, what can you really own ? When you buy software or music CD, you own the plastic, not the software/song/artist. Would you want that for your own creation ?

Our quest is to make it like a great buffet dinner, good value, great range, top quality... and no, you can't put in a doggie bag to go..

Unless you can think of a better solution that makes the labels and artist happy and still get what you want for less... and still be legal... I am all ears...

The site is work in progress so we will clear up those visual quality issues... we just need to know where...

BTW, please test the newer beta site at dev.geetune.com and not the www.geetune.com (that was older).

More new (really new, like everyday fresh uploads) music in the dev.geetune.com website...

Sent you an email...

hi i received ur email and am downloading a song right now to try it out..

i like the way u can grab and move around the album pictures, very innovative.

BUT. the download speeds are pretty slow...
right now im downloading a song at 30Kbps... this is quite pathetic to the 1.3Mbps i get when downloading a song or even movie trailer from itunes, and if im correct those servers are based in america.

one other small suggestion.. i cant find the newest popular songs.. if i were to sign up for a service such as urs, which i look forward to doing at some point i would only do it if i could get the newest songs.

cheers
hope i was helpful.

Thanks for compliment, we were thinking about how people actually shop for CD in a store and we wanted to bring a similar experience to our visitors, no more boring flat "do nothing" catalogs ! You play with your food, now play with your CD "collection".. still tweaking it...

The development server is sitting in our office running off an ADSL so the upload is a little slow (768kpbs upload) as this is running a beta... We will "move" it to our co-location facitiliy end of this month.

Our co-located server has 10Mbs line, so you will get up to 2mbs downloads... that's an average, we got even higher from Maxonline 8Mbs at home. So a 6mb song downloads in less than 2 mins or less... we are planning a download manager and P2P towards end of the year...

We think you want to be a "downloadolic" so we try to increase bandwidth for you to download as much as you want... every day a new album.. Try new stuff, now that it is affordable.. (You can afford to buy new album every day ?)

On the songs that you see, you will see some of them are very new 2008 releases (incl Canto and Mando pops), famous and not so famous but released in the last 12 hours, it takes us about that long to download 2,000 songs every day and process them including cataloging, QC, etc. It's a daily update from the source servers, including large amount of original Album Art which we have to resize for the site. Our order schedule is newer + older at the same time to fill the "bank" so that you will also get the latest and eventually the oldest... So once a song is released officially, you get it when you login, faster than you can drive to your CD shop.

It will eventually have about 300,000 song for this year, over time it will keep growing.... ad infinitum...

We try to have a good mix of the latest and greatest Western and Chinese songs, looking for JPOP, KPOP and other indies... and keep hunting for new sources...

We are working on a more intutive "smart" search and selections, any ideas are appreciated. Search is not yet working... and multi-language (Simp Chinese) will also be ready soon.. The challenge is to make it really simple and easy to use and still be sophisticated.

Please bear with us, it is still work in progress, and with your help, it will be a "dream" site...
Geetune, a new way to get all the music you want.
