I'm quite new to DSRL, budget around $1,200. Wanna ask any brother sister here for recommendation. I would prefer canon brand since my school has lens which I could loan and use.

Canon Eos 500d... About $1300 if you look around funan. The price is a trade off for excluding some free gifts from comex with cash rebates. Comes with 8gb sd card + carrying bag as well.

try to look also at sony dslr. their kit lens already ssm also they have this promo to buy 2 years extended warranty plus the 50mm 1.8 lens.

we bought a 500d for 1240 + 15 for UV filter with 8gb sd card, ef lens book + canon crumpler bag + screen protector at MS colour.

I think you should stick to Canon since u can loan lens from school. Lens are not cheap and if u go with another brand, how are you going to fund other lens?

Anyway, if you're going to get one, please check out MS Color in Ang Mo Kio or Cathay Photo in Peninsula Plaza or Marina Square. They service is good and friendly. Most importantly, their prices are one of the cheaper ones in Singapore.

just bought mine @ Funan John 3:16. Friendly staff. $1260, 500D Kit I comes with 8GB, bag, another canon crumpler bag and UV lens. Free tutorial from them too.

Cool.. It is cheap huh.. I bought mine at funan South Asia today too at SGD1298. How come mine is expensive than urs?? Ur bag is Eos bag too? Got any lens guide book? UV lense is what brand?
