Between Philip & Samsung LCD TV cheekymonkey Sep 12th, 09, 03:56 AM #1 (permalink)
[VR-Zone Comex 2009 Forums]

I'm looking for a 42- 46" lcd tv.

Which deal will you go for?

Philips 42" LCD TV (PL7482) $899 @ Philips Booth 8410 (level 4)

or

Samsung 46" LCD TV (A610) $1799 @ Samsung Booth 8161 (level 4)

The prices are lower than i expected, but still forking out $900 for 4" more is quite ex. (but i prefer samsung anytime) and originally i wanted to go for a 46....

its a ticking time bomb. i got a friend's philips 47" full HD plasma went kaboom within 6mths. ask the philip's technician down, the technician say that part which kaboom not covered under warranty, need to pay $600-700 to repair.

my own philip devices also kaboom once warranty ends. have been avoiding philips ever since. try going their service center and you're amaze at the number of people there to fix their items.

Philips has a quality problem. When we buy electronics stuffs, even though it offers only 1 or 2 year warranty, we expect the product to last way longer than that.

That is not the case for Philips products. They seem to have set some timer in their appliances. When their warranty expires, the device seems to fail within weeks, even days.

skip philips products... got lotsa problems and picture quality is bad... the last set i got from them had problems with the noise reduction feature, intro'ed a lot of artifacts! haha where got set with noise reduction trade with other problem hehe... the funny thing, their support kept scratching heads for mos as to what causing the problem. dare bullshit me with voodoo like oh, power not clean; oh your playstation3 got problem; blah blah

pic quality oso bad, they cant do black, more like blue hehe

i have better experience with samsung sets. got more useful features (philips at same price was more bare) and pic quality much better

100% agreed! I'm amused at how their product designers are so good at making their product to failed right after warranty period ... Philips is on my blacklist for sure!

wahh.. how come so many unhappy philips customers here. hahaha anyway guess what - i didnt get either. I got seduced by the samsung 46" led tv... tmd. instead of spending $1799, spent $2999 instead.

soooo beautiful. stares helplessly into the screen. but seriously, the prices for samsung's led tv have dropped quite alot? i think it's quite a good deal. For those interested, hoepfully u can still make it...
