View Full Version : Stock Watch: Caveat Emptor

Since I read the SGX announcements almost everyday, I would like to keep the traders here informed of the various movements in the shares. The reason for me doing so is to allow discussions and insights from other traders here.
e.g. I saw Aberdeen bought Robinsons shares almost every day before the Big Sale announcement. Unfortunately, I hadn't the foresight to follow them and buy as well...sigh...

But as usual, take my stock watch with a large pinch of salt. Caveat Emptor.

Interesting movements:
1) Circuit Plus - various directors purchased 6000 lots at 14 cents each from open market. This company just returned marginally to the black side recently.
2) Digiland - various directors sold more than 10000 lots each to the market.
3) Ellipsiz - director sold 550 lots to the market.
For the full announcements, see the link I gave in the first post of this thread.

Interesting movements:
1) Accord - shares belonging to directors' placed out to investment house and public. (There was a trading suspension for this announcement. Unfortunately or fortunately depending on your position, there was already a run up of the price prior to this announcement...
2) Chartered Semicon - creates lots of hype in the media. Whether this hype translates to profits is another thing altogether. The hype did create a upward movement in their share price though. (p.s. I do not buy shares in companies that makes losses for 8 straight quarters.)
3) Ellipsiz - director sold 350 lots to the market.
4) Chip Eng Seng - directors sold shares to the market.
5) Food Junction - director Weng Chun-Chih sold more shares to the market. He's been selling since 18 Aug 2003. So far, he has sold 1900 lots.
For the full announcements, see the link I gave in the first post of this thread.

It goes into their pockets because these are shares held in the director's name.
EPS will not drop because it's just shares changing hands only.
What would dilute earnings is when the COMPANY (not the directors) place shares out to raise capital for expansion. This expands the number of outstanding shares and when you divide the same profits by an increased number of shares, the EPS will drop.

Nope. Used my spare funds to apply for the 2 ipos next week. If cannot get, will see whether it's worth to buy the 2 ipos from open market or not.
So not gonna tie up my funds for cirplus so soon. But it's on my watchlist.
