lol 95% of car buyers always go for looks & says "this car nicer than that so i must buy this".What do people really know about engine specs? I myself dont even know much, picking up bits and pieces from my dad. Well.. looking for economical, engine power & stability. I must say Vios is much much better. But still at the end of the day, is still the person with the money to buy and decide which car suits them best.

WTF...LANCER IS SHIT SHIT SHIT THEN>>>hahaha...jokes man...I would really perfer the Lancer looks...that Lancer with a K&N Air-Intake along with a straight-through big bore exhaust with a nice Remus or Devil tip, matched by a set of RalliArt bodykit and sitting on a pair of Enkei RP-07 or Volk TE37...maybe throw in a set of Tein or D2 adjustable coil covers and a nice C-West Cabon GT Wing and C-West Carbon GT Bonnet...your Lancer will look very unique...
If you dont mind putting a snail in there...maybe a Nice Garrett 25GT Turbo which should be good for a decnt 320BHP running at about 14~16psi with quad of Wisco forged pistons and maybe even put through a Jun stroker kit to increase the capacity from 1.6L to 1.9L for even more power. A nice HKS Drag series intercooler and to top it off with a very cool Motec ECU system. If that aint enough...maybe a Holley NOS 60BHP kit will do the trick. But due to the actualy physical limitations of the 1.6L you wont be able to surpass 400BHP...the engine just wont be able to hold more than 20psi even if you had the gaskets and forged engine block...
Ulitmately, if you dont mind, just pop a RB26DETT and pop in a twin set of Garrett 45GT turbo and all the basics and you will see you dyno numbers going off the screen...I mean how does a 800BHP Lancer sound like? hehehehe

Lancer because in the end you are going to replace them with some Brembo Big Reds...8 pot in the front and 4 pot in the back...should be some serious brake power there...
Did you know that Yamaha actually owns the Italian Brake Specialist Brembo?

lydat, the vios should undergo a mark X or altezza treatment also, so that both will have the same engine cap...

Vios!
I will give it you ya, the Lancer looks better, got nice rims and all, but i have driven the Lancer and i can say that its handling, steering feel and suspension setup is not as good as the Vios.
The Vios feels more solid on the roads under most conditions, less float, less corrections needed etc, and to me thats important. Road holding is always important whether you drive fast or slow.
FC, quality and cabin space i reckon is abouts the same, there is not much difference in these aspects. Realiability? Well, i seldom hear of Vios giving its owners a scare, but i haven't heard much about Lancers either so that good news on both fronts.
Sit in both cars, drive em around and you shld be able to decide which car you feel most comfortable in..
For me if i had a choice, neither , cos i don't like the Lancer's roadholding, i don't (can't get used to) the Vios' center speedo and 80's interior. But then again, thats just me. If i really had to choose, then Vios, the lesser of two evils.

not allowed to parallel import cars older than 3 years old iirc. so no S15s, no S13s, no R34s.
anyway you'll get smacked with the tax even if you import from nz.
so the s15 going at 20k will get 150% arf + coe
end up about 70k?

just because it is made in some country like thailand does not mean the parts are really being manufactured in thailand. It might just be ensemble in thailand or even if it still being manufactured in thailand whats the diff? just because it is made from some 3rd world country? thats the prob with people nowadays thinking it is being made in some country like thailand seems kinda unreliable

Skyline R34 GTT or GTR
else
Nissan Silvia S13 200SX
else
Mazda Miata MX5 First Gen aka Eunos Roadster
I just love popups, so no S15. :P
Of course, the Pontiac Trans Am Corvette is nice ( Knight Rider ), but US cars are a tad impractical to drive in SG. lol
Vios Beats Lancer GLX anytime anyday in terms of power but Lancer GLX has alot of legroom. :P Both are affordable cars to buy IMO.

I heard from some friends that lancer is not that fuel efficient (12km/L).... vios (13-14km/L) will be a better choice in terms of saving fuel bah....
Also, vios is also way lighter... so pickup is much more better than a lancer... Unless u want stylo cars, lancer is better for zhenging.... so can make nice nice, sian charbo.

hahaha...who drives GTT??? running a RB25DETT...its a cheapo version of a RB26DETT...the problem with the RB25DET/DETT is that the engine blocks cannot take much boost as the RB26...
The turbos on the RB series are Ceramic Turbos which are about 7PSI stock however if you play around with them and up the boost...make sure you dont exceed 11PSI has those turbo tends to give you death at 12PSI...Despite of such limited boost figures, these Ceramic turbos were used and designed with the intention to reduce turbo-lag...the more PSI...the more lag you get...SR20DET use Garrett turbos which are actually stronger turbo but run with an internal wastegate...most factory turbos have internal wastegate which is alright for turbos running small PSIs...anything over 15PSI...consder external wastegates...38mm+
