Many Chinese car makers have been accused of copying other's designs, such as the Chery QQ. But at least one of the Chinese cars on display at this years Detroit Auto Show is most definitely not a clone. In recent years most car designers have worked very hard to move the wheels as far out to the corners as possible, as a means to maximizing interior space. The Rhombus design concept, originally conceived by Prof. Zhihua Zhong at Hunan University in 1990, aims to improve safety by moving two of the wheels to a center axle in the middle of the car and then one wheel at each end. The front and rear wheels are steered together to help cut the turning circle in half...

Erm.. before everyone starts dismissing this car, it seems that there are 4 wheels after all. The paragraph after the picture does suggest the existence of a 4th wheel, at the rear centre.

You may say the design's copied and adapted from various sources, but this is the way car design has been for so many years! Designs are copied and modified amongst the European makers, and the Japanese will then copy the European designs. American designs are just SHIT... sorry mate! :tongue:

For the Japanese, just look at the Lexus LS series and compare it with Mercedes' S Class (the previous versions of cause... the latast version is probably just on the drawing board in Toyota's designhouse). Even the new Honda Odyssey's rear lights resemble BMW's previous 7-series' rear lights (the one just before the most recent facelift). Copying is probably an Asian thing. Learn to live with it bah! :hat1:

anyway, one cannot deny that watever the design is, it IS ugly...
oh, and another thing... there are some exceptions american designs lah... ford mustang 1968, shelby cobra... just a couple of examples :P
