anelka and martins seemed good for e $$ though reputation of 'sulk' and 'inconsistency' shrouds a future among them =\

i would say huntelaar could be a cheaper opt? or probably peeps playing as a targetman.. we cant really win with crosses now. no 1 knows how to head decently =\

Tanggang
August 29th, 2007, 05:50 PM
In need of targetman, someone who can hold-on to the ball. They were playing like aimless chickens against tottenham, though the attacks intensified after carrick was replaced.

yunzhong
August 29th, 2007, 06:49 PM
woots!

nani is bound to replace giggs soon. his set pieces is better than him at least, for now... just that lack of composure, too gan jiong. my siggie says it all bout e future team! carrick to e bench most prob :P anderson replacing scholes soon and rooney partner tevez when he's back. 4-4-1-1 formation if no transfers gonna come in liao. lol.

we used to score from crosses, without saha now, look at our attacks. vidic and ferdinand gonna help out more now since ronaldo is always e 1 taking free kicks but he's e only attacking player able to head..

rooney score just 1 last season... from a header LOL

Woah ... nice! Missed the MO on manutdsg though. Guess have to dig deeper in the wallet & get it later

Anyway this coming weekend game against Chelsea will be interesting though. One way to look at is; Chelsea morale is at a current low with the departure of "the special one" Mourinho. Man Utd may want to benefit from this. Man Utd could finally kick-off their season with both Rooney & Ronaldo gaining their match fitnesses.

Another way to look at this is that Chelsea will be more unpredictable as we do not know Avram Grant's style of play & player selection style. With Mourinho, I believe Sir Alex has his tactics sorted out. However, things may not look so easy now. Chelsea players may also want to impress the manager & prove they got what it takes.

Removed them liao. Not in the right frame of mind at the beginning of the season so no point continuing. :(

Good result last night but I think Man Utd is still missing a really good centre forward ... someone like RVN. Hopefully we'll get someone ... perhaps Klass Jan Huntelaar ? Noticed many times there is no one in the penalty box to receive the cross. Lots of wasted chances.

it was quite a boring match IMO. United shld hav pushed forward and show them who's king LOL. again, ronaldo was not very effective. this season we may not be able to see his last season's form. i think giggs was much more effective. good for Tevez to see he finally scored.

yunzhong
September 24th, 2007, 01:41 PM
we will. takes time bro.. we've new players trying to fit into our system.. and thus we ain't going all out like last season where all of them are fitted into e squad.

Yeah, to be fair, the weather doesn't help either. Man Utd's style of play (short, quick passes) is most effective only in dry weather condition.

Ideally if I'm the owner & as loaded as Avramovich, will put my money on Wenger to handle the youth academy. He's got a great eye for talent!

Anyway looking at the purchase Man Utd did in past pre-seasons very much tells us the state of its youth academy.
Ronaldo, Rooney, Nani & Anderson all came in at a very much young age.

However, united will have to make do with more injuries, lets see how the depth of the squad is further tested with the upcoming games!

Great win for Man Utd, maintains a gd run of momentum in the league. Augers well for the upcoming champions league game.

Kudos to Aston Villa players too for showing great character even with 9 men left, still attacking towards the end. I'd bet if it were against Arsenal/Chelsea they'll be hacking the united players trying to injure them.

Martin O'neill should build upon the young enthusiastic squad, started positively and took the lead. However, some defensive howlers (mainly inexperienced) got Man Utd back smiling by half time.

Overall, great passing game by Man Utd. Some of the one-twos are simply awsome and took apart the villa defense.

Yup, even on championship manager, i consider the League Cup & FA Cup as major distractions. Avoid these 2 and u keep your batch of players fresh. Jan-May is the period where those with thin squads will stretched.

Just aim for the Premier League & Champions League!

I'd say when Man Utd is on a great run, goals will come along. However, we've got to remember that these wins came against much lesser opponents. The real test will come later on in the season. Just hope the momentum continues and the team peaks at the right time.

A great 4-1 win to Man Utd against Middlesbrough! Tevez & Rooney seems to have found their game. Great way of complementing each other.

However, seems a relatively quiet game for Ronaldo. Well, still early at this stage, i'll pardon him for the 1 game off. Hope they'll peak during the crunch time from Mar - May period.

At the current rate, I'd be happy if Man Utd maintain their pace nibbling at the premier league leaders. Both Chelsea & Tottenham seems to have succumb to the pressure by the press & fans. Wonder, if it'll be Liverpool's turn soon based on Benitez preference for squd rotation. A great test for him tonight when Liverpool welcomes Arsenal at Anfield. As a Man Utd fan, i sure hope Arsenal can be stopped on their winning run tonight.

Excellent result. A pity we've to concede a goal due to poor defending by O'Shea, Vidic and Ferdinand. IMO, O'Shea isn't good enough for us and Ferguson should bring in a good quality fullback who can play on either side just for backup.

Ronaldo didn't have a good game last night but he is my footballing God and I'm sure he'll bounce back really soon :thumbs_up

BTW, I'll be a Liverpool fan just for tonight. :hat1:

Based on this form, might as well tikam total goals is 4 for every game they play. Magic no. 4 seems to be "hot" lately.

Tough luck for the team, shld have maintained possession till the injury time is over. Fell they shld have prevented the cross in the first place. Wonder what giggs is doing towards the end of the game. Seems rather ineffective. Shld have him replaced by nani.

Anyway a draw away from home seems a fair result. Was hoping someone shld have "broken" Fabregas legs. The whole team seems to be centered around him.

I wasn't happy with a draw. With the number of attacking talents we have in our squad, we should be able to beat them especially with their avg. quality fullbacks and goalie.

... and yeah, should play Nani instead of Giggs. Giggs is obviously over the hill and should be used as a sub for either C.Ronaldo or Nani.

Hope we can land a good center forward soon (eg. Klas Jan Huntelaar) as we need someone to convert those crosses into goals.

Rooney & Tevez is a good partnership but sometimes, we may need a Rooney & Van Nistelrooy kind of partnership to penetrate some oppositions like Arsenal (or Barcelona) who isn't as strong when defending against crosses from the flanks.

Using the same system against every opposition will result in more draws and losses compared to having flexible strategies (so that we can better capitalize on the opposition's weaknesses and counteract their strengths).

Do agree that we sometimes need to have a diff. approach depending on the opponent's strength & weakness. Wonder if Fergie is going to do another transfer-magic in the Jan transfer window. Another Larsson-like loan deal perhaps.

Expected to be a roll in the park and it paved the way to the knock-out stage of the Champions League. So did anyone 'tikam' 4 goals this time? Surely there'll be some happy faces around yah.

Fergie saw the opportunity and handed starts to several young players and also those returning back from injury to get them the much needed match fitness.

So Rooney's out for a month now and we now have a chance to see a Saha-Tevez partnership. Fergie has the easier job now since he's unlikely to bench Rooney to try a diff. stike combination. What a better chance when one is out injured. (imho i'd rather rooney rested now and not play for England & come back stronger for Man Utd later in the stages esp. the hectic Dec. schedule)

Saha's not exactly a Van Nistelrooy but he sure does provide a chance for cross bombardment. Saw the Nani's cross for Rooney's easy tap in in the Champions League game against Dynamo Kiev? Sometimes i hope the wingers cut a bit of the dribbling antics and keep things simple with just a perfectly weighted cross.

Well, finally Rooney scored yesterday! Anyway wasn't impressed with how the game started. Pretty scrappy.

First goal was gifted. Rooney one-on-one with the keeper
Second goal was off a quick counter attack. Placed bottom corner by Saha
Third goal was a materpiece freekick by Ronaldo
Fourth goal was a penalty tucked away by Saha

Fletcher, Carrick, Saha & Nani got to start off the match. Park Ji Sung and Pique came later on in the game.

Wasn't impressed with the midfield performance by Fletcher & Carrick. Considered them fringe players. Partnership of Anderson & Hargreaves totally rocks!

Arsenal later on stumbled at Portsmouth and so Man Utd is top of the table right after Christmas!

He's currently away representing Angola in the African Cup of Nations and is still awaiting for the work permit clearance. ALready a 24 year old, i suppose he'll be thrown straight into the first team should the transfer be successful.

Sir Alex needs someone with the agility and arial prowess, and Manucho seems to fit this requirements. Of similar style to Saha but with less injury proness. Saha may be on the move by then ...

From the name itself (Man-u-cho), he's seems destined for Man Utd

Ferguson felt Gunners defender William Gallas should also have seen red.

"I thought Gallas should have been sent off," the United boss said.

"The referee must have a look at that again. He kicked Nani from behind and the referee called both over because they sized up to each other. He should have been red-carded."

Actually, I was rather relieved when Lyon scored first, coz it'll make Man Utd try an get the equalizer (away goal) which is impt in this stage of the champions league.

Even if the score is a stalemate 0-0 later in the return leg, Man Utd still goes thru. To not make it thru to next round bcoz of the away goal is simply cruel.

Remember the year Porto won the champions league? They didn't actually beat us but got thru bcoz of the away goal, so i'd rather we be in the driving seat this time round

On a sidenote, great to see liverpool having the upper-hand coz I have a niggling feeling that they'll be there to eliminate Chelsea again later in the stages :hat1:

I would rather the other 3 (arse, liver & chelski) get knocked out after the 2nd leg :doublegun

Come on Milan, Inter & Olympiacos !

I just love Newcastle United.

... bcos we get to TRASH them twice this season

We're now 3 points from Arsie with a home game against them later on. :thumb2:

Things are lookin' good so far especially with one of their 1st team strikers out for the rest of the season

Arsenal held while Man Utd closes down with yet another impressive win, this time round over Fulham.

Rafa shld learn from the master Fergie on how best to use the squad rotation policy. Its done to perfection once again and players; both main and fringe seems to be peaking as the season come to the crunch time.

Job well done, another 3 points in the bag once again! :thumbs_up

Ferguson enjoys swipe at Arsenal's late equaliser
tribalfootball.com - March 01, 2008

After victory at Fulham, Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson took a swipe at Arsenal following their last-gasp draw with Aston Villa.

Arsenal saved defeat against Aston Villa at the Emirates Stadium with a stoppage-time equaliser by Nicklas Bendtner and Ferguson remarked: "I see it was the 95th minute of their usual seven minutes injury time."

When I saw carrick unable to score virtually at the goal line, its been made clear that the night wasn't Man Utd's.

Thumbs up though for the effort, coz on other nights we can easily get several goals.

Portsmouth goal showed some weakness in the Man Utd backline when they only have Rooney & Anderson (lack of arial prowess) when James launched the counter-attack. Last of understanding or communication left Baros unmarked.

IMO, Paul Scholes shouldn't play anymore. He is way over the hill ... really slow and lacking sharpness.

... and it is quite obvious (to me at least) that the ref either doesn't like Man Utd or receive kelong $ from H.R.
