Hey fellas

How are you guys eating Christmas this year? Favourite food, share ideas etc.

Not sure if my mom was serious but she said this year we are not going to invite relatives over. Normally we have a whole bunch of people and their multiple kids over, we order 2 roast turkeys, last year I made 2 apple pies and we have chicken curry and ayam soto homemade also.

This year probably just my own family. I'm gonna try roasting a turkey after brining it. Did my first roast turkey, traditional style 2 years ago (last year the frozen turkey was in the freezer outside that got shut down by electrician so the meat went bad  eww).

First turkey was fun but I was quite busy that day, didn't look after much in the oven, only basted once or twice I think. My relative said it was better than the commercial already roasted one we bought. I'm looking to try brining (soak overnight in strong salt solution with optional seasonings like honey/ sugar/ herbs etc) as I hear it really adds to the flavour and juiciness, mmm, happy turkey thoughts!

We normally order a baked ham.

I'm also gonna bake my very yummy apple pie and probably traditional stuffing (sausages, chestnut and breadcrumbs) and possibly a second mushroom stuffing (still thinking about this) and a side dish of glazed carrots. Have some fois gras my mom bought from France so pan fry that and a bottle of my favourite white wine (either Palliser Estates or Wither Hills Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand), I'm real excited about christmas! :D

That's for Xmas eve. On 10 December, having an rda Christmas lunch so early turkey. Xmas day itself, lunch at a good family friend's house, they introduced me to panfried fois gras, ooh, I hope they have more this year and they should have alcohol and roast beef besides the usual.

Righty, your turn. Anyone want to trade tips and recipes about cooking for xmas, do so here!

well for starters, we usually(actually onli this few years) order turkey, we ordered frm cold storage and Ntuc b4. found out Ntuc price is good and also turkey nt bad given tt Ntuc doesnt really cater to the ang mohs.. anyway i think this yr we're nt gonna order, but we know how to bake great turkey alreadi.. last yr had a test run:D..

so the menu normally will be a turkey, salad, cake, pasta and soup
