The first were the four door GT's. Then the GT-R came out in '69. The two doors were introduced as '71 and '72 models. There were three levels. The lowest was the GT. These came with the 2 liter L20 with a single downdraft carb and four speeds. The next was the GT-X. These had improvements in refinement along with the drivetrain. These had reclining bucket seats with headrests, factory power windows, AM/FM radio, and rear defroster. They still had the L20 but with twin SU carbs and a five speed. The GT-R actually had less ammenities. They had non-reclining bucket seats, manual windows, no radio at all, the tachometer read up to 10k, and the front windshield was completely clear as opposed to the light blue tint in the GT & GT-X. As for the drivetrain, it had the S20 twin cam engine and five speed. They also had R190 LSD diffs as opposed to the R180 of the others. They also had rear sway bars from the factory, the others did not. The rear spoiler and flares were factory on the 2 door GT-R's only. Both the 4 door and 2 door GT-R's had different grilles from the non GT-R versions. And of course the vin number is different. GT-R's had a "P" in the chassis designation. The 4 doors are PGC10, the 2 doors are KPGC10. The non GT-R's are GC10 and KGC10. There are some other subtle differences but this pretty much covers most of it. Most Skylines have been turned into "clones" by now. This means they have the GT-R badges and the wing and flares. Let me know if you have any other questions.
