Since finally got this section liao, should start a thread that will help pre-enlistees... (mosura come and give some "tips" leh :D)
Jokes aside, here a piece of advice i would like to offer, before applying camo cream, smother your face in prickly heat or some kind of powder. This way, you can prevent your pores from being clogged by the disgusting cream and the cream will also come off more easily.

Thanks to the mods for stickying this! :)
And hey...how come nobody ah...
Oh well, here's another one from me:
When you are outfield, remember to take off your boots to air your feet whenever possible. This is to prevent footrot, which is a really disgusting condition. And change your socks daily!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (i know a lot of you will be too lazy to change socks everyday...but Gortex boots really have poor ventilation)

Agreed with Evange, Change socks twice a day if you have to. It's worth it. Nothing is more important than the ability to walk in outfield.
Also, tighten those boots. Don't end up with a torn ligament in the ankle :(

Don't worry about foot rots. You will get it when you're lightly equipped and thoroughly trained in wet weather conditions. Or just by being plain lazy on minor personal hygiene.
But hey, good squirt of pee on it helps.

there's no washing machine in BMTC. every clothes u wash with washing powder so bring some there, alternatively can ask ur buddy there to share (if they are willing).
bring lots of $1 coin to buy your all-time favourite pocari sweat.
canteen break i think throughout your whole BMTC life prob less than 5 times.

anyway when u go in, you prob need to bring the necessary stuff only.
dun bother to bring extra stuff as alot will be provided.
when u book out 1st time u might already want to bring your personal bag home liao as u will always be booking in and out with your field pack or duffel bag when u just finish field camp.

want to bring food...just put into duffel bag and stuff that below the bed. stand by bed also cannot find one. cuz for me, even our personal drawers they also ask us open.
as for food wrappers, if your sergeants guai lan they will check so stuff the wrappers into the duffel bag also. when book out then go and throw.

Buy bus concession if your daily travel is around $2. Provided you dont' need to stay in though, otherwise not worth it.
Sign SAF Corporate plans when you enlist. Save more.

better cut outside first. the barbers there cut with a vengeance; they just rake the shaver across your head. it can hurt a lot if your hair is long.
btw they still require you to pay $2 when they force you to cut inside.
