I noticed nowadays people are asking where to download this where to download that... but downloading anime is a dodgy issue, so here're some updated guidelines to follow.
1) Do not post links to torrents and direct downloads for licensed anime....
2) Do not ask where to download licensed anime/warez/games/roms or such...
3) Do not post any hentai pics
4) Do not spam
For a list of what anime series are licensed, you can refer to the following sites
Grand High Licensing List (http://www.animeondvd.com/licenselist/)
Region One Reviews From AnimeOnDVD.com (http://www.animeondvd.com/reviews/category.php?category=1)
AnimeSuki Licensed Anime Listing (http://www.animesuki.com/licensed.php)
Links courtesy of AnimeSuki (www.animesuki.com)
Thanks for your co-operation ;)

Well here's a extract from animesuki about fansubs.
We have to admit it: the distribution of fansubs is technically a violation of copyright under the WTO TRIPS agreement. However the TRIPS agreement does not demand that distribution of copyrighted material is a criminal offence unless it is done on a commercial scale. This means it is up to the copyright holder to bring the offender to court. The copyright of unlicensed material is held by the original creator. In the case of anime this usually means the Japanese distribution company. If something is licenced, the licensee holds the copyright and thus the right to sue any copyright infringers within the area covered by the license. (source: ato's forum post)
Up until now fansub groups have had little to worry about legal pressure from Japan. However US companies are more likely to sue, therefore it is an additional reason for fansub groups to stop distributing a series once it gets licensed in the US.

Oh yeah man...GAY companies like ADV-films. Those guys sure love to sue...
And they have quite a few good series like Angelic Layer, DN Angel, Maburaho, NGE and FMP...etc.

Naruto licensed, BLEACH licensed... manga, anime, merchandising rights..... Please help me find the link where not the whole thing is licensed... And no matter what I still stand my ground that whatever anime that are listed in those links, and cannot be found in Anime Suki's torrent database, its download links and requests won't be allowed here.

This will be effective unless an admin tells me otherwise...... So to Haxor_Lee, the answer is NO.

thats where u're so wrong. the admins do watch animes. n in some cases, much more than u do i believe.
by doing wad xm did, is just to protect vr from getting in the wrong side of the law.

FYI, this action is to protect VRF's general interest from getting unnecessary lawsuits and all. Why do you think fansub groups like ANBU immediately stopped subbing Naruto, and Lunar stop subbing BLEACH once the series had been licensed by VIZ.
And as a mod of this forum, I'll pretend that I didn't see that last statement.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
But as a normal user, anime fanatic and on behalf on all my fellow admins and mods who also watch anime......
WTF IS WRONG WITH U MAN!? JUST BECAUSE BY FOLLOWING THE LAW, YOU THINK THAT THE ADMINS AND MODS HERE DON'T WATCH ANIME? THINK AGAIN MAN. FOR YOU DAMN INFO, I THINK SOME OF US IN FACT WATCH MORE THAN YOU LOR. BLOODY HELL, PAUSE AND THINK OF THE REASONS FOR ALL THIS ACTIONS LA! Btw, IF YOUR NICK MEANS YOU'RE BORN IN 1988, THAT MEANS THAT SOME OF US HAVE BEEN FRIGGING WATCHING ANIME BEFORE YOU WERE EVEN BORN MAN.... WTH... GET TO KNOW PEOPLE AROUND HERE BEFORE U EVEN MAKE ANY BLOODY ASSUMPTIONS LA. PLEASE!

Thanks for standing up for me, bro. :D You're right, it's more of taking measures to cover VR's general interest.

lol.. i nth to say.. do we call this? *cough* i dont know hor.
and obviously u admins most likely do not watch animes..Friend, if you truly believed that last inflammatory statement, then I am the one who have "nth to say". If admins and mods here didn't watch anime, you think we'll waste time and bandwidth to set up and maintain a sub-forum? You think xiao`meow hates anime but comes in dutifully everyday for no personal gain at all to tidy up the threads, read every single post here, answer suggestions or comments (whether stupid or otherwise) and take time to consider and revise the policy to adopt for the sub-forum and explain his decisions to you?!?
If you bothered to look around and think first before posting, you would have known that xiao`meow has been open and considered forummers' comments and arguments but, at the end of the day, a difficult decision has to be made by him whether you like it or not. By right, he doesn't even need to explain his decisions - every website or forum is entitled to have its own policy regarding licensed animes and different forums will decide differently coz at the moment, there is no absolutely clear right or wrong regarding this. Geez, surely anyone who is half serious into animes would have known that :sarcastic
Anyway, if you believe you can do a better job running an anime discussion forum, go set up one yourself then you can decide whatever policy you want for that forum. I would love to see you explaining and justifying every decision you make then :hang:
