Don't talk back to your superiors higher rank than you, unless you like extra duties.

DO
- Lend a helping hand to your buddy, bunk and platoon mates.
- Mingle with your peers. Isolation will only make your N.S even more miserable.
- Drink lots of water and rest well at night.
- Keep an eye on your SAR21.
- Fight for your rights if you have a valid medical case. Screw the MO/OC.
DON’T
- KENG. Contribute even if you don’t like it. Who does, anyway?
- Act garang! Not worth it, really.
- Act smart, unless you inspires to be an officer.
- Mess around with live ammo, because they kill.
- Pick up smoking under peer pressure. It’s bad for you and everyone else health.
Most importantly! Try to enjoy and make the best out of your N.S. Strong bonds are made only during dire moments. Sweet memories linger, man. Like my first encounter with a GPMG and my poor assistant gunner, a much smaller chap with a full pack, spare barrel and 2 boxes of ammo strapped on his back!

- Do book out whenever you can or you might regret it.
- Do be an efficient ninja. (Efficiently there at all times but somehow remains hidden from any bullshits)

Do anything...
Don't get caught...
sounds dumb, but that's life in army

I find the subsequent portion a little irrelevant.

Anyway help everyone, even those you don't like cause you will never know when you will need them.

During our 24 km march halfway, there was a flurry of activities among the commanders but we dunno what la, so we continued ... only after finish and back at BMTC liaoz our sergeant told us what happen ...
The sergeants from the rest point near old SISPEC there say suddenly they heard loud screams in the distance and rushed to investigate ... running there after a while, they saw an obese recruit marshalling near the old SISPEC there running towards them screaming hysterically ...
The sergeants all shocked ... this 100++ kg running towards them at an unbelivable speed ... when they grabbed him and asked what's wrong ... they freaked out ... he wetted his pants and his whole body was cold and shivering ... they say 1st time saw someone's complexion so pastry and gray ... he kept dribbling at his mouth and screaming. .. after a while he started hyperventilating ... the sergeants all tried to get him to breath while they call for heli-evac
After the 24 km, next day we POP liaoz so i didn't get to find out what happen. But met up with my bunkmate who went SISPEC and posted back to tekong as a sergeant and he went to ask our sergeants who were still there, the obese recruit's account of the story was:
He was just standing at his marshalling point beating his boredom by just looking around. Then he saw this hideous figure perched at a tree branch looking at him and his knees buckled liaoz ... he said suddenly the figure just wailed and flew at him ... hands outstretched and that was when he turned around and ran for his life ...
I dunno if he keng this thing up or not la, but i tink it is credible as from the sergeants' account, he was so spooked a person of his weight was really running so fast albeit for his life ... and next day POP liaoz no reason for him to create this situation to post out or watever ...

Fat and slim cannot really determine by weight leh, that guy could be 2m tall for all you know. I think I should add that you should not think about seeing with dirty things. The more you think, the more afraid you get and the more likely you are to see or hallucinate these things. I was in SISPEC tekong for BSLC and never seen anything like this. But it is true that you should not go anywhere alone, esp at night as if something happen to you, the other guy can always call for help or help you.
My best tip is to take care of your own body. Do not injure yourself or be too garang. Stop when you cannot the pain gets too much, it is often people who are over-garang who may break their ligaments as they do not want to report sick and just continue chionging despite the pain. Your body / health is for life, NS is not, try not to injure yourself during NS at all.

Try to adopt a positive attitude while you are in there and don't act like a smart aleck.
You can in fact learn a lot more than you think while you are in the army, it all depends on which angle you are looking from.
Personally, I got a few good buddies that probably are going to be lifelong blood brothers. One became my business partner and we are like butter on toast because our thoughts are always working in synergy.
You'll learn how to deal with people of all classes/attitude/behaviors, which will be very beneficial when you enter the work force. You pretty much get "immune" to all the verbal abuse and insults that you treat them as part and parcel of life. (Not saying is a good thing but your temper will curb a lot and gaining the ability to deal with assholes/bosses/difficult customers is a skill you will treasure when you're able to handle them with ease.
Understanding certain aspects and philosophy of life, which you can't learn within the comfort of your own house.
Working in groups is another key element of army life and that will improve your social skills...
For me, I try to be in the middle of the pack when it comes to doing stuff, don't lag behind while not "poking" out by being the best....life get a whole lot easier.
It really depends on what you want for yourself, some of my friends are super gangho and siao "on", they are always try to be the best, its good but with that comes a lot more "responsibilities"...
As for those bloody skiving and lazy fellows, I don't understand them, they get punished so many times it defeat the purpose of skiving...dumbass.
One piece of advice, if you wanna skive, make sure you are safe and there are always peeps to kua water, in case some big shot walks by and your whole group get into trouble.

yup. basically, you're on time if you're 5 minutes early. you're late if you're on time.

simple reason dah.
LTC say 9am start. CPT hear already give 8.50am. RSM hear already give 8.40am. LT hear already give 8.30am. PS hear already give 8.20am. SGT hear already give 8.10am. The men/recruits hum chee/scared come at 8am.
Simple logic.

ROFL.
My OC do not like waiting one, will always personally tell us what time he wants us to be there. Still our glorious LT will make us come early.
But if we made him wait he also unhappy.
Anyways most important rule, DON'T INSULT/TALK BACK/COMMENT ON ANYBODY of higher rank then you, or with a position that can give you problems.
