me too but see you all using 200 dollar racquets and know all the models, too scary lah. I would like to get a lighter racquet if I know I'm gonna play regularly but hard to find partners. Was offered one for 99 at this shop that my parents use last time, shop is called Champion.

i am using a carlton racquet. never want to go back to yonex after i started using the carlton. it is really powerful.
as for shuttlecocks, i think can get cheaply at Sportslink, because they always have promotions.
and dont forget leh, players still have to share the cost of court booking.

I used to have a carlton ages ago, normal one. I think I go for carlton coz it's cheaper :P. Present one not sure since have not seen it in ages but might be carlton too, about 20bucks, quite heavy too. Where is sportslink? I don't like those shuttlecocks that are too light coz spoil so fast. My friend told me the competition ones which are very ex are the very light ones so they can go faster, prefer a heavier one but still with good quality feathers.

i think we are just paying for the brand if we buy yonex. carlton really have good racquets. i think mine is the "aeroback" model or sumthing.
another thing, if u want to go for competition-grade shuttles, u would have to pay more leh.
i cant imagine how a yonex racquet could cost more than 300 bucks. even 100 bucks is expensive to me. my budget if $40 if i really need to get a new racquet. :rolleyes1

CC, cc charges can be 4-10bucks depending on whether you are member and which CC. Like Marine Parade is expensive. I have played at Jalan Besar (Lavendar), Mountbatten and gonna play at Geylang Serai (Haig Rd) next as it's near my house. Lavendar near mrt with my colleagues.

Regarding mp88 and mp99, they are both good but different players different preferences. If tight budget, you can buy a clone of mp99 or mp99 from Apacs brand. About $65 or less, including grip and strings usually. MP99 clone is the PC998, it's a bit less head heavy than the MP99 I hear, full graphite of course. There are many clones here not available in US or Europe or NZ. Another very popular clone is Proace, both brands are very cheap in Malaysia, quite cheap in Singapore as long as you know how to buy.
The clones can take up to 27 or more lbs usually. My clone of nanospeed 7000 is strung at 26lbs, too high tension for me but it was already strung with a good string, BG85, included free, so decided to try it out.
MP99 is also head heavier than the MP88, not sure about stiffness. Both originals are selling for S$199 here with freebies, not sure if the promo is still on. Head heavy racquets not suitable for me so I won't bother buying unless it is very cheap.
