Hi, I from army armour technician, serving army 3 yrs 6 months. I always having back pain on and off for this 2 yrs. I thought it is normal backach coz pain come on and off. Last yrs i went to see the MO coz i feel that my back become more pain and he refer me to the specialist. Last month, i went for the MRI scan and found out that i have slip disc. It may cause it due to carry too much heavy loads. I wanted to claim for my injury coz slip disc will live with u forever. It needs alot of money if i need to go for my operation. So i went to look my S1, he say i dun have any specific incident to cause it. i cant file a claim. He is damm attitude problem. Alot of people dun like him. He say to me " You stupid, you dun even want help urself, how u want me to help u". I damm tu lan. I really dun have the special incident. That mean i cannot claim service injury?? I ask my specialist wether slip disc will happen due to carry heavy loads for long run. He say YES. Is there any other i can look for??

You are almost out of luck, the key person is your S1. The key item to claim service injury even after service is to file a injury report and your S1 needs to fill out some parts of the injury report. I will recommend that you get your specialist to write a letter to explain that slip disc can be caused by prolonged carrying of heavy loads, throw it at your S1, tell him this is service injury whether he like it or not and that you want to fill out an injury report. If he still dun want, go to next higher authority, your CO (or equivalent). If you can, do also mentioned that this is part of "Care for Soldiers".

He just want to brush you off and on his part, he has less work to do. If today he is the one with the slip disc due to sitting too much in office, I am sure he will do such claims.

First thing is to ask your specialist on what could have caused this slip disc. You just need to ask him is slip disc work-related. If it is, tell him to write you a letter, then you show it to your S1. If S1 refuse, then you climb up the next upper channel. In the end, once they know you mean business, they will start to act for your interests.

looks like u are a regular.
anyway, just dont try shooting MP letters against the unit. it never works.

the thing with injury report is that, they need to mention a specific incident causing whatever injury the serviceman suffered.

The specialist say dun need to write letter. It can be found on the book, the MO should know. he say it need not need to have specific incident to cause it. Its like nobody helping me. If look for CO really got use?

bro. i have the same injury as u.

but to be honest, i dont quite agree with yr view. i went through mine looking at the best officers and of course, the other end, same goes for specs. i was in both combat and non-combat side so i was able to see both sides of the fence.

and i felt my journey equipped me for life and better able to handle life's situations. i am overseas studying now and i look at those who never serve NS and their ways of solving and reacting to issues, quite, juvenile at best.

hindsight is often 20/20, yes. but if given a choice at enlistment whether to serve or not, i would have.

just my 2cents

I will still have daughters. Every night have supper to eat next time. I think economically, women are better. Men are skrood.

The amount of relief for mothers is incredible. Damned!! S$2000 for NS relief does not amount. I think I'd take up morning sickenss in the first trimester, incredible sex drive in the second trimester and anxiety in the third trimester. The PTR Parent Tax Rebate is also fraking incredible.

There seems to be more upside being a woman in Singapore. My wife is a lot richer than me in the bank. And I am not giving her allownaces cause she has her own career.:songdah2:
