hey all

i just went to see a specialist 2 days before my enlistment day (which is tomorrow 12 june) and discovered that i have a condition called scoliosis, which is curving of the spine. apparently the doc say my spine is curved @ 33 degrees, which causes bad back pain...he wants me to bring in the medical report and x-ray films on enlistment tomorrow and see the MO. my current grade is PES B, no nafra test taken.

what are your thoughts on this matter? i can see the MO on enlistment day right?

See MO on enlistment, get medical board appointment. 33 degree is quite obvious, how come the doctor didn't find out this during the checkup?

PC stands for platoon commander. usually a 2LT or a 2WO who is in charge of yr platoon.

a PS stands for platoon sergeant. a sergeant that is responsible for the platoon and reports to the PC..

basically, dont worry.

after all the swearing in. u will go to yr respective companies and divided into different platoons and sections. and beds assigned to u.

hold yr letter with u at this point. once u know which platoon u are in, ask for the section commander, PS or PC for yr platoon. show him the latter and POLITELY ask about reporting sick to show the letter.

if they say wait. then wait. NEVER be pushy just because u got the letter. if they insist that u carry the whole load by yrself, just tell them once abt the condition. if they still insist.....carry on yr things to yr bunk..

good luck and take care

On top of what's mentioned by fellow members, do take note that there's a certain period of time for reporting sick, medical review and etc.

If I remember correctly, medical review cases should be done during noon period while the morning slots are more for people who are having symptoms such as fever etc. :)

Good luck.

Subjected to Medical Board's approval though. In the meantime, MO will most probably give him a letter to be excused from activities that will worsen his condition.

The MO should be sacked for failing to spot such a obvious spinal condition.
