lol. EX series bass is not good. to layman, the boomy bass might sound satisfying. but to someone who has heard better earphones, the creative ep630 and panasonic hje50 beats the sony ex71 hands down. the ex71 has boomy bass, poor mids and screechy highs. the only acceptable EX series is the EX81.

Agree.
but what made me dislike the EP630, is the cables that comes with it. It's abit too rough and having too much grip for my liking, tend to accidentally pull out the earphones due to it's great rubbery grip.
Although I have solved the friction issue by soaking the wires in Singer oil for 2 months, I found out that I prefer having earphones like the EX71 is becuase I can wear the earphones with the right earphone's wires behind my neck only one wire from the left earphone to go into my audio device.
Well, I guess I'm not used to the EP630 for it's wiring. Maybe creative should redesign on their cable.

or you could simply try the Sharp MD33. same earphones as the creative ep630, with the neck-chain style cable. :D

yeah, EP630 is an OEM from the famous Sharp MD33.
Sadly, creative didn't follow what Sharp did with their MD33 for neck chain style. Save cost I suppose.

or rather, try to look more like ipod phones with the Y cord design. but i do prefer Y cord over neck-chain. :D

depends on what good bass you mean. if your definition of good bass is those ah beng cars subwoofers that go boom boom boom which muddies up the sound and has one note flabby bass, then the ex71 is good. if you want bass that is clean, tight and fast, then the ep630 is far superior.

i think it was on yesterdae's straits times or some magazines that i read. dat wearing earphone directly plus into your ears can be bad to your eardrums, should use it for less than a day and 60% of the maximum volume only, if not you will suffer from some so called illusion sounds eh =p

Well,I have got a pan hje50, some ppl says tat theirs when rubbed against clothes or bags, they tend to produce sizz sounds, while some says tat the wire is flimsy..
however, i do not find it so. mine although used for only 5h, i dont find any sizz sound , most prob is tat some prob when encoding to mp3.
wire is not flimsy, rather it is almost alike sony ex71 one's which i have too..
seems tat left wire for pan is much longer than sony's. this is a gd plus as it does not keep feeling like the wire is stretched when u r walking on streets.
as for sound, it is really tight for pan , bass a bit missing. sony one have great bass but not quite clear. clearity for pan is definitely better than sony, while sony wins in terms of bass.4.5/5 for pan , 4/5 for sony.
both are noted as canalphones.fitting for pan seems to be firmer, over sony's.
(note tat i m refering to the middle size), so it wont fall out as easily.
cons for sony:-rubbery wires ( not quite suitable for those who sweats a lot)
-lacks in tight sounds
-a little more ex as compared to pan ( abt $20)
-only supply wif cap for the heads
-not all comes wif pouch (well, mine dont)
cons for pan: -some may have wires tat are very sensitive
-bass not great enough
-no caps like sony (some of us prefer tat+pouch)
-difficult to find replacements for sleaves
-warranty given to me was only a one week warranty
pros for sony:-great bass
-have x-factor (for some of us)
-1 yr warranty
-easy to find replacement for sleaves
pros for pan: -clear sounds produced
-higher vol.(eg. played on creative's tx fm,on vol. 14, pan
gave a louder production of music as compared to sony's)
-overall wires are gd ( not too slippery, just nice)
-cheaper (impt factor for budget-conscious)
conclusion: pan shd extend warranty to 1 yr like sony, sleaves shd be made
available to their shops, best if it is available for grabs in leading
IT stores (eg. harvey norman, bestdenki).
sony shd improve more on tighter production of sound, maybe
considering reducing bass by a little on the upcoming models.
Wires can be improved further. Extra accessories like pouch can
also provided, for ease of consumers(to put them in it)
I would recommend one to try out both before spending your money.determine whether u are towards which type of music (eg
pop, acoustic, etc), then choose your preferred earphones.
For this review (hope its still readable to all fellow friends in vr zone),i believe pan hje50 is the more outstanding one. Hope tat i would have more opportunities to try out other models frm other companies.
btw..i do not have an ipod mini by my side,so i didnt include anything abt equaliser.
Anyway, hope tat u would know more abt these 2 in-ears. Enjoy!
