If Carlube Company advert like Shell, yes their price will be same as Shell..

Besides, Carlube isn't a small company.... it is made by: http://www.tetrosyl.com/

they have been advertising extensively on Premership football stadiums. The oil was developed with Lotus Motorsports, and used by the TVR racing and Morgan racing teams....

Vicosity or velocity? If u are referring to the "thickness" of the lub then it is the vicosity leh. Anyway the lub grading that u have recommended is good enuff. My parents usually use the In house lub from tan chong motors. Doubt they will bother about changing to a better lub.

Opps....Yes, it Vicosity(so Shy). TCM using fastflo but I don't feel they are that good compare to Carlube.

Unless, you pay TCM for servicing, they will use Shogun Brand ( Which is made in Singapore ) else for those that doing servicing under the Free Servicing..they only use the fastflo brand

How old is your car? If you always travel NS Highway...try not to use 10w30 unless u change your oil every 5K. If for Singapore usage and little NS highway driving 5w40 will be the best if your car is still within the below 3 years age

Actually, you don't really need the low temp properties in singapore. Are you going to get temperatures even below 10 deg C here?

0wxx oils are good enough. :)

Remember, the less viscious the oil, the better your fuel consumption.

And if you are changing cars within a year or three, I guess super light oils like 0w20 or 0w30 won't make much of a difference to you. ;)

ericoo and chippy, Royal Purple can be bot at pacific oils/lubricants (forgot the exact name - I go back home and check for you) located at jln penjuru... a 5 gallon tub costs like $140+, iirc. The spec of the oil is freaking good... and it will benefit most cars to use it. I have been using it since 2000 and have NO complaints wat-so-ever. It's so cheap that I change my oil every quarter or 4000km (whichever comes first). :)

fully syn motor oil lengthens the life of your engine... mineral oils breakdown very fast and leave all sorts of deposits - but for the first 5k, just use mineral oil, cos it will get very very dirty (due to fine particles of your engine block shaved off during the initial running in of the engine). after that, use fully syn oil is betta

ok... for all you folks who are interested in getting royal purple, the details of where to buy are...

**UPDATE**
I just called them and the prices have skyrocketed (DAMN!!!). They explained that it is due to the rise of oil prices in past 2 years, and they cannot continue to be profitable if they do not increase their prices - they have kept it low for much too long. So, although it is still cheaper than the top grade motor oils offered by the popular gas stations (Shell, Mobil, Caltex, etc), you have to decide if it is worth your while to make the trip to buy it. I used to buy a tub of RP Motor Oil 10W40 for $123.90, it has gone up by almost $100 to $223.02!!! :(

Pacific Petroleum Pte Ltd

ok... for all you folks who are interested in getting royal purple, the details of where to buy are...

0W40???? don't you mean 20W40... in non-racing engines, not much difference lah... besides, the first number indicates the viscosity of the oil at 0 deg Farenheit... it does not make any difference in this tropical weather of ours... if you want more viscous oil that's resistant to thinning at high temperatures, then get 20W50...
