Red face My 'Speaker Stands' and room for improvements

Was researching around looking at ways to redirect my speakers more accurately towards me. Cutting to the chase, I decided to try this method for now. Pardon the LQ photos ya...

Went down to ikea and grabbed two pieces of this. Wasn't sure if they can hold my H4s which way around 4.5kgs per monitor but they did seem sturdy. Also did some 'Stress Tests' there when nobody was looking hehe...
The metal legs can be adjusted according to its width.

Dismantled the piece and see if I could do a reverse mod on them and also spray the wooden base a more understated black. You can on the nuts and bolt but not on the metal frame itself.

I also place a felt furniture pad on the plastic thumbscrew so my speakers will rest on 5 contact points.

After some adjustments to the metal legs width, manage to get the H4s to sit snugly on the stand. I removed the unsightly furniture pads below my speakers too.

Then went on to set them up on on my table and the testing begins!

Here are points that I took note:

-Tweeters are now at or close to ear level (depending on my sitting posture); high frequencies go a notch up in clarity and definitely more direct.

-I think this works better then just tilting your speakers upwards towards your ears using stands for AE or Auralex Mopads.

-The bass tightened up a little

-At normal sound levels, hardly any resonance reaches my table.

-At high sound levels, some still does especially bass beats and explosions in Battlefield 3.

-Best part is they cost relatively cheap and gives an industrial tinge to my set up.

Are there any other improvements I can make to the stands to improve overall performance?

-I can't seem to find some kind of rubber coating to place at the metal frame where contact is made with the bottom of the speaker. Don't wanna ruin the H4's wonderful finish.

-Should I place some kind of rubber or isolation material at the bottom of the metal legs where they touch the table?

Wrap some anti-slip cloth around the metal. Many layers of electrical tape also works.

$9.90 for this size and there seems to be a bigger one at $12.90. Didn't see it though.
