preference la, some people like open cans, make the soundstage more natural.
some like closed one for more private listening.
some like IEM cause they like to be engulf in their music.

In my opinion, headphones give better sound quality for the price you pay.
When you compare the price you pay for IEM, and the price for headphones.

ya, headphones generally sounds better, i think due to the physical limitations of earphones.

I seem to like IEM more than headphones... Everytime i audition headphones, it is a dissapointment, my crappy sony walkman canalphones sound better than the goldring 100 LOL. I kinda like the ATH FC-7 though.

But now i suspect that my source is the 1 causing the problem. Anyway my recommandation is for you to try both.

actually my main problem with headphones is always that they get hot after wearing for a while, and sweaty also, whereas for earphones can wear for hours also no problem with feeling uncomfortable, unless anyone knows any headphones that somehow wont feel hot n sweaty type to recommend?

Sennheiser HD580/600/650, comfortable and won't sweaty.
Over the ears cups.

Audio Technica A and AD series is comfortable, but will get abit sweaty over time in hot places.

Not sure about other brands, I only got a few cans.

Good earphones are able to suppress ambient noice better than headphone, and being more mobile. Gone are the days of 'big cans' for quality sound, nowadays it also depends on the pairing device. I have the Ultimate Ears Super-fi 5 pro and it works great with most gadgets including in aeroplane.

I have a pair of earphone for sale for discerning audiophiles at Ultimate ear Super.fi 5 pro
