STOMPer Irene said that her sister was forced to buy speakers from two rough-looking men in the Chinatown Point car park basement yesterday (May 20) at 1pm.
The STOMPer recounted:
“My sister was walking to her car when she was approached by two rogue looking Chinese males with tattoos at Chinatown Point car park basement and was cajoled to purchase speakers.
“She refused and walked away but she was cornered at the desserted carpark.
“She was in fear for her safety as she was alone and she was driving a Mercedes and had cash in her handbag, having just returned from the bank.
“She was certain that she was going to be robbed if she did not do as the men demanded, which was to purchase two sets of certain Glatten speakers at $750 per set. She was sure they had a knife, and would hurt her. She handed over cash $1,500 for speakers that she did not want just to get away from the two men.
“My sister came home upset and told me about the incident, she has been crying and out ever since.
“We phoned the management office at Chinatown Point to inform them and to check the footage on the surveillance cameras.
“We have made a police report and we were told the reason why the scam or robbery is so successful is even the police would refer to it as a commercial affair, we were told they have a few similar reports in the caseloads which are with the CAD.
“My brother called them to ask for an explanation and refund. The scammers were arrogant enough to inform us to call the police but not the press.
“They do not wish the scam robbery to be exposed so their ways can be continued like a brisk business. In fact they told us we are welcome to fight them as they have been imprisoned for more than 10 years.
“We have the speakers, their invoice from ‘Triton Entertainment’, their handphone number, they even volunteered their ICs to shroud it in legitimacy.â€
The STOMPer added that she hopes these scammers will be stopped.
