judging from pix it doesn't seem to be able to be a standalone dac.

more like an integrated amplifier with a built in dac tht accepts usb input.

speaker wire terminals (amp?)

usb (input?)

rca (input or output? not clear from pix....)
poisons in order of preference: hifi, dslr, watches & timbuk2 bags

aux is input more likely

just bypass the dac to the speaker amp

It's an integrated amplifier, with digital inputs in the form of USB, which happens to have a headphone output.

You can tap the headphone output but you'd be wasting unnecessary power with the tubes.

Dear Members: I am Jay Patrick, Co-Founder of GLOW. I am contacting to warn you that the amps represented in the photos are unauthorized counterfeits .

There are 2 easy ways to tell the counterfeit. 1) On the back it has a square USB plug, rather than the flat slot type on the production model. Also, and very important, the counterfeit indicates to use a 5A fuse. Production amps require a 1A fuse for 220V and 2A for 115V, and are marked accordingly. I have attached a photo of the backof the authorized GLOW unit, you will see the different USB configuration and 1A fuse marking. 2) The authorized GLOW product comes with a high quality steel tube cage, the counterfeit either has no tube cage, or includes a cheap version made of "chicken wire", not steel. I am attaching a photo of an authorized amp with quality steel tube cage.

How did this happen? We contracted with a chinese company, GuanLong, to build our amps back in 2005. Unfortunately, the owner, Kenny Wu, was forced out when the company was taken over by an unscrupulous person who began substituting cheaper parts without authorization. Build quality was extremely poor, the amps were unacceptable, and we rejected them.

We terminated our relationship with this company. Unfortunately, they stole the amplifiers that were already produced, which we had paid for and intended to destroy. The Guanlong company is now defunct, but the owner's son is illegally marketing these stolen amps without our authorization. Please be warned NOT to buy any GLOW amps that are not purchased from GLOW of El Paso, Texas. The amps being sold by direct mail from China are NOT point to point wired, are NOT quality control checked, and are NOT reliable or well made products. You will experience premature tube burn-out, poor USB connectivity because of faulty grounding, and other problems with the counterfeit version.

We have attempted to prevent the sale of these counterfeit amps in china and elsewhere, but as you know, it is difficult to enforce intellectual property rights in a foreign country.

PLEASE do NOT purchase the counterfeit products from the chinese source. The ONLY way to avoid obtaining a counterfeit is to buy directly from GLOW USA at glow-audio.com. We have the highest quality control standards, for both reliability and safety, and have hired an independent QC firm to re-test EVERY UNIT before it is shipped to make sure it meets our highest standards. Please do not risk obtaining an inferior product, with no warranty, to save a few dollars.

If you have any questions, contact me at: glowhifi@yahoo.com
And if you obtain any information on where and who is selling counterfeit GLOW products, we would like to know!

THANK YOU.

Jay Patrick
GLOW

Please also note, the real GLOW Amp One sold from our company in El Paso, Texas is NOT a "re-branded" anything. It is assembled in China, and in external appearance it may resemble some other amplifiers, but it is completely our design, point-to-point wired, with hand-wound transformers, unlike any other single ended amplifier in its price range.
Cheers,
GLOW AUDIO

Anyone doing a MO for this soon? But its a little pricey at USD488 w/o shipping.

Wonder how it compares to the Dared MP5 Anyone for a shootout?
