Recommended headphone for use with Creative X-Fi Surround 5.1? aaron80 Sep 11th, 08, 01:28 PM #1 (permalink)
I have just bought a Creative X-Fi Surround 5.1 with X-Fi CMSS-3D technology which is supposed to give headphone surround that sounds like multichannel speakers. I am thinking of getting a good/decent pair of headphone to go with it. Will be using it mainly for gaming, secondary is music.

I dunno what headphone to get as I know nuts about headphones. Some people recommend getting 5.1 headphone but some people said just a good pair of headphone suffice. I am quite confused. My budget is below $100. What headphone u guys will recommend me to get so that I can get the best out of my X-Fi Surround 5.1? I will be using this headphone on my ipod touch from time to time too.

For games only, then comfort is important. You can try:
Sennheiser HD200 or HD205 - very comfortable and bass heavy.
Audio Technica AD-300 - can here others when they talk, better quality sound and higher treble.

There should be better audio sounding ones that others can recommend, but for the life of me I cannot think of any below $100
Audio: VXT4, AD1000, DT880, UM1, PK2, Compass (B,Earth), ZeroDAC (mod), Cowon D2

Haha $100 doesn't even come close to "good", aaron. There are some headphones out there that cost up to $700. I'd say that $200 - $300 is just about mid end.

There's a good place to start getting headphones; it's Stereo Electronics located at Causeway Point. Their site is www.stereo.com.sg. Give them a call to find out the prices of those headphones.

I heard of the brand Grado but dunno whether its good. I am considering Audio Technica SQ5 now. How is SQ5 compared to SR60?

AT products are abit sharper on the pitching or tone. If you listen long, might be more tiring on the ears, that what i feel when i try the AT range.

If you like bass, can try AKG dj81, it sound better to me than SQ5, just that the headband too small to fit my head.

Sound is very subjective, drop by Stereo or Jaben to do an audition, no questions asked, they will just let u try on the sets for as long as you like. Even if you din buy anything at the end of the day, they also never give u the "look".

These 2 place are very posionous... all sorts of temptation. At the end of the day, i settled for a MS-1 for home pc usage and haben regret yet.
