iRiver E30 4GB MP3 Player with FLAC support djxpire Oct 16th, 09, 08:25 PM #1 (permalink)
Hello everyone, I saw this little review from other sites and am quite interested into getting this cute player that supports FLAC, is there anyone using this player here? Please feedback on how you feel to this player and its biggest disadvantage is the small storage but I don't really mind about the storage issue at all. Please comment if you've tried or used this player before? Thanks in advance...

Guys,

I've recently bought a real jem from iRiver wide range of quality products.
It is this E30 4GB Mp3 Player that has FLAC support!

Ok, maybe 4GB is not enough for some of you but it is sufficient for me as I
am quite selective to music I put in my player & changes most of the time...

So if the memory size is a huge concern to you, need not read on further....

Build
Enclosure is wrapped in full ABS alike plastic, considered rugged built yet classy even with sweaty palms, there are no physical buttons except the on/off button that may capture your sweaty hands.

LCD Screen
It comes with a really small 1.8inch TFT LCD, 176 X 220, 260K Colors screen..
It has a crappy screen but GREAT sound, aint music players supposed to deliver great music?
So, it did not harm its value even with such a loousy screen to me, as I listen more than "watching" it....

Audio Support
MP3 / WMA / WAV / APE / FLAC
MP3 (8~48Khz, 8~320Kbps), WMA (8~48Khz, 8~384Kbps), FLAC (0~8)

Just the right size, small enough to fit snuggly into my pocket or arm-band when I go for jogging! Most fabulous attraction is the ultimate FLAC support!!! :jammin:

Battery Life
Unbelievable Whooping 52 hours!!!
(128Kbpas, 32Ohm, MP3, Vol 20, EQ Normal, LCD Off)

My own test: It took at least 40 hours of NONSTOP playback before the batt runs flat!
I was consistently playing FLAC, Vol 25, EQ SRS WOWHD & LCD Off!

Charging Time
It takes only a quick 1 hour to get the battery fully charged up using a power-plug USB charger device, bought separately. If using USB, it takes longer time, around 2.5hours.

My Mini HD Audio Player Setup
iRiver E30 MP3 Player FLAC Support
Hippo Boom In Ear High Performance Earphones (cheap yet BIG sound!)
FiiO Headphone Amplifier )Yet again, another small gadget but extremely HUGE difference during playback!)

Most if not all iriver products support FLAC.

The E30 is the younger brother of the E50 with slightly changed user interface.

Otherwise both are identical with the E30 wholly made of plastic and the E50 made of a steel frame and brushed metal front.

Yo Eric, I've been here all these years since CMF, Novia and FP. I'm fine, still floating. Your own biz seems to be doing fine too.

E30 and E50 product line is identical.. 2gb 4gb and 8gb models.

E30 is newer model but full plastic casing and same interface as E50 but with some extras.

E50 is older model but metal frame and front with plastic back.

Pricing wise both are the same with E30 sometimes higher due to its "newness"

Choosing between the 2 is a matter of preference thats all. However if you like "newer" models and interface/firmware then E30 is it.

Both E30 and E50 advertise 52 hours play time.

This is very close to the truth. After constant usage mine runs at least 35 hours before needing another charge. Its probably due to my running higher bitrate mp3s and flac files that it falls short of the 52 hours time (specced for 128kb and 50% volume). One thing for sure is that it probably outlasts anything out there by double the time at least.

Sure bro, can catch up.

35 hours is a great playback time for sure, personally I dont like the idea of recharging devices too often as it shorten the lifespan of the internal batt. Well, I think I know what to get then... Thanks for your replies mate, hey... catch up how? PM your contact, thanks!!!
