If you're willing to pay enough, you can get 24-bit.

A USB 2.0 interface capable of 24-bit costs roughly $100-200. If you just want 16-bit from USB, <$50.

Hahaha. I've 5 years to pan it all out here. Guess a poor student's got to what poor students do then. Buy first, upgrade later.

Anyway, I'll be checking out the only decent audio shop (besides those selling guitars) in town tomorrow. Let you guys know the results when I get back from it.

It turns out there were not one but THREE shops in town selling audio. It's a great shame to report that I had no luck with all of them though.

I initially thought I would have had some luck to at least try auditioning the Focal XS and Quad L-series actives (even though I know they are out of my budget). It's such a pity these weren't stocked here and the only actives in the whole vicinity would be B&O and Ferguson-Hill @ Apple Store. I didn't bother with those because of the astronomical figures involved.

Better luck next time, I guess.
