as for the question, i can only say this: everybody listen to sounds differently. what appears best to me might not sound the best for you.

the other 3 about the same coz same chipset. DAC wise also not a lot of diff.

Hi all, I'm new here. Anyway, will like to contribute my 2cents experience. Have heard the X-FI Vs Prodigy 7.1 and EMU0404. Each have its merits. Here are my breakdown.

X-FI - 1st in games effects. 2nd in Movies. Music wise is very personal, if you are into music details then X-FI is 2nd in music but it may sound harsh to some people. Otherwise Prodigy is more relax sounding. I'm into details.

Prodigy - 2nd in games effects. Top in movies. Based on my explanation above either 2nd or 3rd in music.

EMU0404 - last in games and movies. But top in music. Very neutral sounding, from highs to bass. Relax yet full of details. However, limited to 2 channels.

if you're into gaming, you gotta get the right setup to take advantage of the x-fi ... if you dont have the 5.1 stuff etc, there's really no point in getting it.

the comparision is alrady lopsided in the first place mah..

0404 is a pure stereo card. prodidgy and julia more for 5.1 and 7.1 users.

but i have heard the 0404 a few times..the music output is a wtf...u cant believe that creative can produce something so good.
