Not tasted it yet tho. Apparently the extra flavour it gives the Puccini doesn't justify the price tag so we didn't plug it in.

Dying to try out the USB DAC tho. Maybe tomorrow... before the dude comes back to collect it.

Home auditioned the ARC REF 3 today. Kinda disappointed after reading the fab reviews online.



THe REF 3 seemed to lack dynamics vs the Italian New Audio Frontiers Absolute, although the it is far richer and warmer; The NAF is more balanced in the end.

Edit: I suspect the REF 3 didn't gel too well with our solid state power amps hence the poor results.

That said, we were introduced to a real gem today, the Shindo Masseto.



This little Japanese handcrafted jewel (It has the footprint of a Hubstation HD) totally blew the Absolute AND the REF3 out of the water. It had the superb dynamics of the Absolute (and none of the slight harshness) and the best of the richness and warmth the REF3 had to offer. We were sold on the spot heheheh.

LOL I gave it a go. Connected it up to the Pucinni with a spare thinLAN cable I had lying around

I "thought" I heard an improvement in clarity for higher frequency sound. Not quite heaven and earth imho as an untrained listener.

The USB to digital convertor works like a charm. Would have been interesting to compare the Pucinni's U-Clock & ring DAC vs some other offerings out there
