Issues with Asus Maximus III Formula on Win 7 [Solution: Switch to Gigabyte mobo] DangerousSean Oct 27th, 09, 02:49 AM #1 (permalink)
Hi,

I facing the several issues on my newly purchased Asus Maximus III formula on Win 7 Home premium.

Issues Faced

- Intermittently, Window will restart during window startup screen, in which I will need to use the system restore option which window will suggest after a failed boot up attempt, I will then be able to startup the window and use per normal.

- Both of the Prolink USB Wifi adpator/ M1 Moblie BB refused to work or to be detected by the respective software that came with it even though Window does recognize both of the Usb devices under device manager.

- Window will unable to bootup/shut down when I left the Prolink Wifi adpator plugged in my Pc, will be fine after I plugged out the adpator.

Troubleshooting tried so far

- Did a sanitary erase and firmware upgrade, follow up by a fresh installation of Win 7 Home premium on my primary storage Vertex 120GB

- Updated the software/drivers for the affected Usb devices

- Run health check on the Vertex and ran mem test on the Team Xtreem rams which both proved fine

- Took out the processor to make a visual check that there are no burnt marks/pins either on the socket/CPU

- Tried changing the sata cable and port of the primary storage Vertex

System Details
Everything have been on stock so far.
Cpu's Temp Idle at 36c, load at 60c using Intel burn test.

My system spec are as following:

Cpu: Intel Core i5 750
Mobo: Asus Maximus III Formula on Bios Ver: 0902
Ram: 2X2GB Team Xtreem DDR 3 1600 LV CL 7
Storage: Ocz Vertex SSD 120GB on FW 1.4
GPU: Sapphire HD 5850
PSU: Corsair HX620
OS: Win 7 Home Premium

I did not faced such issues previously when I am on LGA 755 - Q9550/Maximus II Formula back then, using the same hardwares and OS configuration expect for the Mobo,Cpu and Rams.

Oh btw, this fellow Maximus III Formula user also seems to faced similar problems with the mobo as me...
Need help, really urgent. pls

Hope that any BL's staff or Pros can help me on the issues I am facing currently, thx in advance.

Sean

Updates...

No solution found for the mobo even after going back to the shop's IT support, even the exchanged set is also diagnose with the same issues.

Resolved by changing to Gigabyte P-55 UP5...
