connecting LED strip to PSU Crazy5miles Apr 26th, 09, 04:54 PM #1 (permalink)
hi guys,

i'm relatively new to case modding and have only recently attempted to individually sleeve my PSU and tried to connect a 30 bulb led strip to provide lighting in my casing. I'm using a Corsair HX-1000 psu and have no idea how to power the LED strip up. i've tried using the Red and Yellow wires from the 4-pin molex to the LED strip but it doesn't seem to work (afew bulbs did light up though before my whole PC short-circuited and restarted itself). I'll provide pictures if it helps.

Have a soldering machine here but is that necessary?

please advise!

You have an unused 4pin (2 by 2) connector don't you? Its normally meant for old motherboards. Get creative using that

Yellow and Black is 12V between them yes. Black is ground and Yellow is +12V

I'm also talking about this: https://www.hardwareanalysis.com/act...power_conn.jpg

If this plug is unused, its great for hooking your LEDs up because they're female and you can just stuff the LED wire into it without any need for soldering. Just be sure to secure it with electrical tape, or some other way that's more pleasing to the eye
