For those interested in powdercoating joelkoo Jun 4th, 09, 01:51 PM #1 (permalink)
Where is the best place to powdercoat PC? I have heard of 2 places, 1 at defu lane and the other at hougang. Not sure of the exact location though.

How much will it cost to powdercoat the interior of the a midtower case? like Lian Li A-17. How long does it usually take?

Do I have to dismantle the case myself, or do they dismantle it? Ie : taking apart the HDD cage etc.

TYVM.

EDIT :

Ok I powdercoated my rig defu lane as recommended by most of the bros here, and instead of having to go through post by post, here is the contact and info for the shop.

for a good quality of powdercoating is better if u strip off all part of ur casing,i know is sounds crazy by removing the rivets, but u can do it by using power drill.do note that after powder coating all part will thicken maybe a few mm thick and it may cause difficulty in putting everything back, but with passion and sheer luck u can try to do it slowly,as for the price range is maybe below $100 for a full tower casing and duration is all base on the person who do powdercoat for u.

i got 2 name and hp num i thought it might help

simon his shop is located at amk inds park 2,spectra is the name of his workshop, been there and done my casing by him.(96253253)

david is the guy from defu lane, when the 1st time i call him he actually know that i got his num from this website....(98181913)

Gary from uvnium advised me not to paint the interior of the A-17 black, as the paint will peel during installation of the parts. Does this apply to powdercoating? since the advantage of powder coating to normal spray painting is that it is suppouse to "stick" better.

Pls advice. Thanks.

i went to Defu, my case is damn nice now. very very very satisfied.

same go for Cheez and Cheesified. David he knows what he's doing!!! His surface treatment is good, so is the spraying and baking. price is reasonable, < $80

NOTE: it's NOT required to take casing apart. it's easier to do it in 1 piece! and CHEAPER to do it in 1 piece (i had a long friendly chat w David, so yeah, that's what he said)!!!! The oven is damn fking big, can bake whole car ==> dun buy the myth "take apart coz small oven". (though doing by parts MIGHT lead to a SLIGHT improvement in coating... notice the emphasis)

oh, that. i asked David whether if i can change the colour later on. he said it's nothing to be too concerned abt. exact word: "when you get bored (with black), juz tell me". i guess it's quite easy to remove and re-do. juz bring it down, he will access it, tell you what he would do, and give a quote. dun have to worry abt cost, everything will be below 70, in my opinion.

if you want any more bargaining chip, juz tell him you're Andy/Leon/Timothy's friend, haha. we coated ours for 55 bucks each (full tower), so guess he'll charge you similarly.
