It is definitely possible to cut wood with laser, a simple googling search will show up quite a few hits but the point in hand is the need of it.

The usual milling and cutting of wood with standard rotary machines is more than enough for most jobs.

yep, go to a furniture factory to cut to your spec. You could get the tools to do it yourself, but would probably cost you more :-)
Especially if it is a one time thing only.
If you want to do it often, then go buy the tools

It is definitely possible to cut wood with laser, just that the edges of the wood would be black black with all the soot and would need to be touch up.
