[HELP] removing damaged screw head. eklips Jul 25th, 09, 11:28 PM #1 (permalink)
i need help in how to remove damaged screw head. im unable to manually unscrew the screw to remove the fans, which means the fan is stuck in the casing. is there any way of removing it?

i google awhile and found that there is this gadget call"screw extractor" purpose is to remove the damaged screw head using hand drill. the thread of the drill bit is in reverse order. so i will like to know where can i find it? i went to self fix diy shop just now, i don see the screw extractor.

you mean the screwdriver cannot grab the head?
i thought you already decided on getting the screw extractor? looks like the extractor just needs to go into the screw that you want to remove yeah?

something like that happened to one of the socket head screw... i cut one straight line through the head (top to bottom) until a flat head screwdriver can fit in. after that, i just unscrewed it.

dun waste money on the screw extractor. It's too expensive.

just drill thru the screw, it's easy to remove once the head comes off.

or you could use bianco's method.

Yah,
That is what I do at home and work.
Use a dremel to cut a slot on the head.

Then, probably TS does not have a dremel?

no dremel, use a junior hacksaw blade slowly make a groove.

$0.6 -$1 per piece at any HW store.
