Good places to chill out Zoomer Nov 11th, 04, 07:32 PM #1 (permalink)
Does anyone have any suggestions on good places to chill out with friends?

Offhand, I know of a few

Secret Garden (Middle Road there) - Nice place, very quiet
Standard Coffee Bean/Starbucks
???

Summary Actually not...but whatever.

Chijmes lor. There are lots of drink house along 6th Avenue too. --chipmunk

Cable Car at Cuppage Centre. --MeDiC
New Asia Bar...but try on weekdays...weekends alot of ang mohs...--MeDiC
HaagenDaz at the durain building --DeanMartin
hougang area, there's Bliss, bugis got can cafe --floppy
No. 5 Bar at Emerald Hill, evening until 9pm has housepours for $5 each, includes beer and tequila shots! Fried chicken wings with batter, oily, crispy, would be better with longer marination but is pretty good. -- quarian
indochine @ wisa.. the music is LOUD, but good.. a tinge of No Doubt .--yan
i would recommend is "Charlie's Corner". Go for the fish and chips.
o, it's at Changi Village. --zuoom
Harry's Bar at Boat Quay!!Just went there yesterday....there's quiet corner upstairs or live jazz at the ground floor...--MeDiC
New Asia Bar at Swissotel at City Hall --MeDiC
balaclava at suntec looks good too. --SakuraPink "but tends to get very crowded on Fridays... " --MeDiC is that place mostly for executives? i walk past always see they dress until very grand ley. --spy "the crowd very yuppie and the age limit is 23,21 IIRC... although they're pretty lax with it..." --floppy
The cafe on the ground floor in Keppel Club right next to the sea. The view of the sea and Sentosa is super nice. Price for set lunch $10++ only on weekdays. --bolts
Fishermen's Village at Pasir Ris Park. Go in via Elias road. It feels like Patong beach. --bolts
i recommend emerald hill 5! --ZhiQiang
Think you mean No. 5 Emerald Hill or also called No. 5. I mentioned it on the first page, casual easygoing place. Cheap housepours at $5 (beer, tequila etc) before 9pm. Hot fried crispy chicken wings..hmm, have not gone in quite a while.

These are my choices:

Balaclava (Can say my favorite) It's a chill out bar... Have light snacks to enjoy, and a live accoustic band (not loud, quite jazzy)...near the marche that side
Alley Bar
Happy Daze
"I Don't Know E Name" at Hotel Rendezvous <- juz popped in, quite like the place
Gusto
Indochine @Wisma
Cafes / Bars along 1 Fullerton, all quite good...
Breeko @Holland V
Baden (Can't remember the spelling, beside Breeko)
Chicago Grill @ Orchard. It's a steak house, but it does have bar counter for you to have some drinks. Plenty of caucasians there too! --buaya

Personally i like Pre-Rouge and Alley Bar for drinkin during chill-out sessions. One more is Tantric but it's an aj pub. For coffee..NYDC (heeren) and Coffee Club (opp Cine). -- t|nGz

White tangerine Cafe at hougang st 21. Paya lebar CC. Near Kovan MRT.Have accoustic guitar and singing somemore on Sats. --Viper23

I like alley bar but it's bit too popular now as in too crowded. now it's packed with angmohs, too many darn lawyers love the stairs and they do a nice strawberry frozen margarita although it tastes like there's no alcohol in it. --quarian

Tamade at robertson quay. nice place to bring a date to chill --Gollum
thought tamade closed down some time ago already. or did it move to robertson quay? it was originally at The Quayside. ---quarian
loof .. at odean towers ?? --insaneXplayer

- HOTest -
grapevine @ upp serangoon road, beside d croc farm, opp is serangoon shoppin ctr i think. gd ambience, but closes bout 2am. a cafe bar. --rongzai "i heard this place is really nice"--tiffany "my no1 chill out place." "liek u said the only prob is parking, the dory in parmesean cheese is good, baked rice too, havent tried the steak though, the cod isn't that fantastic. the oriental chicken is damn nap ah!" "Go there on average of about 3-4 times a week. Nice place to hang out."--floppy "grapevine is not too shabby. the food is suprising good."--zuoom
boat quay, by the river bank, is a good place to chill out. --Asimof "yea nice and cheap food. no service charge somemore."--rongzai
Rather disappointed with grapevine, went there on a friday nite with 8 frens, arrived there around 11pm, had to wait 1/2 hr to get seated, ok with it coz our party was really big, but when we ordered or rather tried to order, the waitress told us they only left with plum tea and honey ice and alcholic drinks, and that kitchen closing soon. Service was so-so, we sat outside and it was rather warm and tepid. --mg79
