Talking Red Star Restaurant

Please sign in to remove this ad

Hi all,

I recommend the above restaurant if you want to try authentic cantonese tim sum.

I have been to several restaurants for tim sum but still find Red Star number one.

The address is as follows:

Blk 54 Chin Swee Rd #07-23 S(160054)
Tel Number: 65325266/ 65325103
Fax Number: 65340993

They do not take reservations on Sunday and queues can be very long by 10am in the morning.

ya... i especially liked the small portion that they gave the century egg porridge in... like dun need to eat the porridge, then full liao.... cannot eat anymore.
the quality and price also good, but most of the time go will be quite packed. i also liked the siew mai... quite juicy and nice taste.

Have heard similar accounts as well about Red Star. Have not been myself unless my family went when I was young.

For cheaper but good tim dum (cheaper than crystal jade or tung lok), I like Yan Palace (http://www.yanpalace.com.sg) at Hong Lim complex but be prepared to wait even if you book! Although when I went to try, did not wait too long, about 15mins but a lot of other people who booked were waiting too, luckily my booking went in just before them It's noisy and crowded there, more atmospheric for tourists, reminds me a bit of dim sum in Hong Kong which is quite hectic and noisy.

Hehe... if you got a bit more moolah to spend can go to Peach Garden - the kitchen staff left Hua Ting to start this one up. Not cheap but damn good food!
