Room acoustics can make or break equipment.

Unfortunately few of us have the luxury of owning a dedicated audio room, making engineered acoustics something fairly out of reach.

Placing a curtain here, a canvas painting there and maybe carpeting the floor can have great impact on acoustics tho. No need to go the way of engineered acoustic foam cladding and roof applique.

For those who have too much money, resonators can also be considered - tho I have no idea how much snake water the tiny things hold.

I do not agree with you Gollum. Room accoustic is not meant to cover up deficiencies in the equipmenst. If done properly, it's instead bringing the best out of whatever you have purchased/are going to listen to.

You can spend a million bucks on the system but not 100k on room acoustic done properly? Where's the logic to that?

heard a couple of "high end" rigs. The treatment does not really make that really much of a difference vs the cost/performance kind of rigs.

Ultimately the really super high end stuffs are built for sound plus looks. most of the time million dollars rigs are sold based on looks alone.

heck, if ur buying a hifi system costing hundreds of Ks, you would think as long as room size is appropriate, the sound u hear should be close to optimum. no?

This playing field is way beyond our comprehension already. The system might be used just for radio. just because they can afford it. u think the owners care about room treatment? With or without theirs would sound better than most of ours anyday.

I don't see Telos 5000 on the picture

Have you read the manual of the Epilogue? Infact the first thing they highlight is about room acoustic. Also have a look at Wilson Audio's manual, same thing, room acoustic comes first. Vivid Giya, same thing, room acoustic. Magico, same thing, room acoustic. I bet the same can be said on the Revel, etc.

lol fact of life...people who are unconcerned or unable to pickup any difference, are usually the people that can afford it.

its when we cannot afford it, we need to scrutinize every detail.

heck, when i buy a lens i scrutinize and read all the reviews there is...go check mtf charts blah blah blah..

the person with 123143252134 lenses just go walk in to buy. no good, put in dry cab as collection lor..

try talking about fuel effeciency with a lambo driver

I think the analogy does not work out too well. It's more a lambo driver driving along Orchard Road on Saturday night. Not about fuel efficiency.

Private jet tickets to Vienna to listen to Mahler 9, anyone?

Not surprising since 95% of the smart phones users are dumb and commenting on Angry Birds.

Telos 1000.

In any case this looks to be an uber home theater, and not a dedicated stereo system. One of the pics on sifter shows a drop down super wide screen and projector.
