Another suspect in the underage sex scandal case is back in court.

31-year-old manager Chiang Meng Chuan appeared in court today for his second appearance, reported The Straits Times.

He allegedly paid between $500 to $600 to have sex with an underage girl at Hotel 81 Bencoolen on two separate occasions in September 2010.

He was one of more than forty men who were charged last month for having commercial sex with a minor. The girl cannot be identified due to a gag order.

Chiang's case has been adjourned until June 11. He is being defended by Mr Alan Shankar.

He faces a jail term of up to seven years, a fine, or both if convicted.

Only one man has been convicted in the case so far. Former Pei Chun Public School principal Lee Lip Hong is now serving nine weeks in jail for the offence.

A 31-year-old manager who allegedly paid for sex with an underage girl on two occasions was in court yesterday, for a second time.

Chiang Meng Chuan - who was among 48 men hauled to court last month - had been charged with having commercial sex with the minor at Hotel 81 Bencoolen on Sept 23 and 29, 2010.

The prosecution yesterday tendered two amended charges which named the girl. She cannot be named here due to a gag order.

Chiang, who is represented by lawyer Alan Shankar, is due to appear in court again on June 11 - along with the other men who have been charged.

So far, only one of the accused has been convicted of having sex with the girl, whom they are said to have paid between $450 and $850 per session.

Former Pei Chun Public School principal Lee Lip Hong, 39, was sentenced to nine weeks' jail last month after pleading guilty to having paid sex with the minor at a budget hotel in September 2010.

A second charge of having sex with her in December that year was taken into consideration.

The men charged so far are believed to have sought the services of the Singaporean teenager through an online vice ring.

Their sessions, allegedly between September 2010 and February last year, took place in hotels ranging from budget hotels to premium establishments.

If convicted, the men could face imprisonment of up to seven years, a fine or both.

I kinda disagree with the "underage sex" title. It portrays the men as pedophiles which they are not.

The girl was of age, just not sufficiently mature at that time to be a sex-worker

Two involved in underage prostitution case back in court

SINGAPORE - Two of the 48 men charged with having commercial sex with an underaged girl made their second appearance in court on Monday, reported The Straits Times.

Choong Sin Jian, 27, and Lee Vin Sen, 35, paid for the sexual services of the girl, who was under 18 at the time of the offence.

Choong is claiming trial to two charges of paying the girl $600 each time, at the Strand Hotel, Bencoolen Street, on Jan 6 and 29 last year.

Lee, a sales representative, allegedly paid $450 for her services at Marina Bay Sands Hotel on Sept 23, 2010.

Their cases have been adjourned to June 11 for a discovery conference.

If convicted, they can be jailed for up to seven years and/or fined.

Vice ring case: Accused allowed to travel for work



Businessman Edward Whistler Goh Ngian Meng (right), who is facing two charges of having sex with an underage prostitute, was back in court on Wednesday to seek permission to leave Singapore.

Goh, represented by lawyer Choo Si Sen, was granted permission by the court to travel for business from May 20 until his disclosure conference on June 11.

The 49-year old is the founder of business consultancy Edward Whistler International Group.

On Wednesday, the date of offence on his second charge was amended to Oct 24, 2010 instead of Oct 24 last year. Goh told the court he still plans to claim trial to both charges of having paid sex with a girl under the age of 18.

Alleged pimp faces 60 new charges



Tang Boon Thiew, the alleged pimp who was accused of heading an online vice ring, now faces 60 new charges.

Of these, 56 are for abetting commercial sex with a girl who was a minor, according to The Straits Times.

The rest are for offences under the Women's Charter for which Tang allegedly brought in two women - a 27-year-old Singaporean and a 25-year-old Malaysian - for prostitution here and living off their earnings, the newspaper added.

If convicted of living off earnings of a prostitute, Tang could be jailed up to five years and fined up to $10,000.

He has racked up 95 charges in all since November last year.

Forty-eight of his alleged clients were charged last month for having sex with the underage prostitute who was 17 at that time.

Tang allegedly took a cut of the $450 to $850 fees that the girl charged for her services.

One of his clients, former school principal Lee Lip Hong, recently pleaded guilty for having sex with the girl and was sentenced to nine weeks’ jail.

In that hearing, it was revealed that Tang arranged for Lee's sessions with the girl, using text messages to fix details of the price and meeting place, The Straits Times newspaper reported.

Other than this girl, 15 others are said to be represented by Tang.

The other men involved in the case will be going to court for a pre-trial conference next month.

There are also another 14 men who are being investigated for paying the minor for sex, the paper said.

In April, he was the first of 48 men - charged with paying for sex with the same underage prostitute in a high-profile online vice ring probe - to plead guilty.

Mr Lee, 39, procured the services of the prostitute twice, in September and December 2010.

He was given a nine-week jail sentence, but was released after six weeks for good behaviour.

Maybe it should be Ex-principal in underage prostitute sex case released from prison.

Otherwise it sounds like that he was put in prison for sex with an underage prostitute who was released from prison!

4 more men to plead guilty in online vice ring case

Four more men charged with having sex with an underaged prostitute in a high-profile online vice ring case have indicated that they will plead guilty.

The men - Wilson Oei, 25, Pyi Kyaw Han, 31, Louis Lee Lip Kian, 33, Chiang Meng Chuan, 31 - will be back in court on June 27, July 9 and July 12.

A total of 48 men have been charged so far in the case. Only one has pleaded guilty.

Former school principal Lee Lip Hong served a six-week sentence and was released from jail last Friday.
