SINGAPORE : The Bedok serial cat abuser had been sentenced to a year in jail.
In the last incident, 42-year-old David Hooi Yin Weng hit a cat repeatedly until both its eyes were swollen, and was caught in the act when he went to dump the cat.
Court papers said that Hooi had found the four-month-old cat and brought it home where he allowed it to roam about freely.
When it urinated on the bed, Hooi hit the cat and locked it in the toilet.
When he released the cat later, it urinated on the bed again.
And Hooi hit the cat till its left eye began to swell and bleed. Its left tooth was also broken from the beating.
After the attack, Hooi found that the cat could not walk properly and brought it to the void deck, where he was arrested.
As a result of the serious injuries, the cat had to be put to sleep.
In the sentencing, the judge took into account Hooi's previous convictions.
He was sentenced to three months imprisonment in March 2006 for a similar charge.
Apart from his cat abuse offences, Hooi had been convicted of seven thefts since 1978.
An Institute of Mental Health psychiatrist had diagnosed him as suffering from anti-social personality disorder.
Earlier in July, sentencing had been postponed till he was seen by a psychologist, who described him as childish and was not likely to respond well to treatment.
