As i have learned, many people love the Xp 90 heatsink, it provides good cooling for a decent price. Coolmaster has made a new hsf that in design is quite similar to an XP-90 but is all copper, i found a review that compares to the to heatsinks under full load wit a stock cpu and an overclocked cpu, the performance of the 2 heatsinks if extremely close usually about 1-2C difference between the 2 heatsinks, i was very impressed by the performance of the hyper 48 since down here, i can not get ahold of an xp 90 without having to order it in from somehwere, so if there is anybody that has the same type of problem as me of getting ahold of an xp-90, then take a look at coolmaster hyper 48 heatsink as it offers the same performance for around the same price and it also includes a fan so you won't have to go and buy one since the xp-90's do not include one. Here is the review:
they tested wit 3 different fans and with the faster 1 the temps didn't change and with the extremely loud one they went down but then you had to listen to a vacum, with all 3 fans, it still performed just as good as the xp-90 and you could still replace fans on it if you didnt like the one it came with so the same goes with the Xp-90, you gotta buy your own fan also
My old Hyper 48 was so good it ran at 70 idle and 80 load :wail:
and how long ago to you get this old hyper 48, since the hyper 48 has barely even been out for that long and i seriously doubt u had it in right if you idles at 70C i runnin a cheap $30 volcanoe 7 fan that idles around 40C sorry i seriously doubt your temps are accurate especially since i have read 5 different reviews on this cooler and they haven't even reached close to 70 on load temps, barely even 60C actually

I bought my Hyper48 sometime early this year if i remember correctly... someone helped me install it so i guess the temp problems might be due to poor installation. I only recently replaced it with an XP-90. You can ask josh about the temps with my Hyper48.
i found a review where the hyper 48 was tested against the Swiftech MCX775-V which beats the xp 120, and it got very close scores also as u can read here the comparison of the Swiftech MCX775-V and the Hyper 48
yea i think thermalright did a very good job... someone shud do a weight:temperature chart and show... (lol maybe i'm sua ku and someone has already done that, if so where is it?)

please tell me jmke used multiple mounts- 1 to 2 degC isn't what I consider accurate
still, its alot better than what I used to read on the site
on the subject of weight, I wouldn't consider the hyper48 a 'breakthrough' in that respect. with its height and hence extra turning force, I'd say its stretching the limit of what most would put in a pc
got to agree with krado, I like the new thermalrights and their application of heatpipes, Si97 in particular
