Shouldn't be too different from XP.

Are you looking at corporate or individual licenses?

The license and authenticity engine is very deeply embedded in the kernel. So trying to crack it might cause more harm than good...

It will follow the "gradual limitation" method instead of fully locking up your computer. If your key is invalid, it will slowly shut down more and more features and functions until you basically cannot do anything except find a new working key.

I guess we will only know after Vista comes out and people try their luck. But you should always call up MS and tell them it is the same system.

IMO it is a bit ridiculous to tag the activation to hdd. If you ask me hdd is the one of the most likely item to change in a system either due to an addition, an upgrade or rma. What do you guys think? Maybe it only refers to a the hard drive the OS is on? If that is the case, good luck to us who like to play with RAIDing using different drives.

Actually, I haven't seen a single major software that hasn't been cracked if need be. Vista should be no exception.

in any case, we will not consider Vista in our holiday list where WinXP was already adequate for our daily needs...what so special about Vista new security mechanism and la ora experience when it affect us with cripple licensing and expensive flavour? The vulnerability will significantly reduce and drivers will slowly supported especially major printer companies and other...however, the use of virtual machine on vista is a violation to EULA and making it useless to Quad-core owner who need the virtualization features for productivity.

Instead of overpaid for many feature we don't need, we spend the cost on upgrading to AMD/Intel Quad-core and Windows XP do support multi-processors driver which can be enable to make full use of processor performance.

The use of VM on vista is not a violation to EULA. How can it be since some versions include Virtual PC by default?

Only XP Pro has multi-processor support and that is limited to 2. So quad-core isn't fully supported in XP Pro even. I doubt MS will upgrade the driver. People with quad-core will have to get either Server 2003, Vista or Linux.
