explorer.exe !!! samwow14 Sep 15th, 03, 05:44 AM #1 (permalink)
hi , i`m using xp pro , p-4 2.8 800 fsb ,512 ddr 400mhz , 160gb 133 , cable internet , zone alarm pro. , nav 2003 pro.
lately i`ve noticed that after doing using simple applications for ex. browsing the net ( explorer ) + listening to mp3 + opening windows explorer my pc slows down dramticly ,
its a strong machine and never caused me any problem , when i opened the task manager i saw that the image file name explorer.exe under my user name uses almost 50% of the cpu and the mem usage keep changing between 80,000 to 150,000 every seconed , the weird thing is NO APPLICATION IS RUNNING !!!!!!!! I CLOSED ALL APPLICATION AND STILL IT USES 50-52% OF MY CPU !!
what is the problem and how can i fix it

when i restart the pc everything is perfect but , the moment i activate an application its all over again !
sam

Well something is definitely screwy with your IE. Try updating you IE to the latest version from the microsoft website. Try mozilla if you can't fix it and don't want to reinstall your OS.

Have the same problem. It runs in the background-regardless. Isn't that known as a TSR condition or something?

if you are viewinf video files, and the time length is not in the file, explorer will read the entier file to figure out the time length

Try Ad-Aware Leoinker Jan 26th, 04, 12:30 PM #7 (permalink)
Hey I have had a problem very similar to the one you brought to notice. I would definetly go to http://www.webattack.com/get/adaware.shtml and download Ad-Aware. It is FREE! and you don't have to provide a credit card number or anything. I have used Ad-Aware many times and have always had great results.

glad to help,

-Leon
