Improving Sluggish desktop performance?? Hurricaneboi Jan 16th, 08, 04:02 PM #1 (permalink)
Hey guys, my bootup time is okay, but I've been enduring sluggish performance in xp itself (after loading windows), such as slow loading of applications and startup items (of which i only have less than 10 including AV/firewall/antispyware).

I even have to wait for objects to appear when I click the Start button. I'm sure this is not the case with many users here.

Can anyone provide any solution to boost my desktop performance?? thanks!!

most effective way is still a reformat and reinstall.

Uninstall installed-on-an-impulse software and scan for malware on your system.

defrag registry with auslogics reg defrag as well as defrag hdd with auslogics disk defrag, use ccleaner clean out all your crap and invalid registries, use it to also uninstall programs that u cant find in add/remove progs in control panel...

worse come to worse, uninstall all your active running programs and install them back one by 1 to see which one will cause your system to get bogged down...

PS. all the above progs are foc and free of malware...
