Can't do much? can la..
Only prob is it doesn't support other DBs by default.. only local Access DB..
But u juz have to reference external files for sql n oracle..

I've developed a few propgrams on VC# express already..
been using for half-a-year for s/w development.. lolz..
since it's free.. can use anywhere..

Mono is .NET 1.1 alternative and is going into implementing the changes in .NET 2.0...where as MS has ported C# compiler to BSD but not Linux...so the community come up their own C# development...
