I don't think you should get Windows XP 64, I don't use it myself, but heard of a lot of problems. Not all companies created 64bit drivers yet, so your hardware might not even work. Then most applications also aren't coded for 64bit, so it won't fully utilise it. So not much point upgrading.

It depends you know. If you tweak XP right, it's just as fast, or even faster...

I tried WinXP64 on my AMD64 3000 rig. Pretty impressive startup time. Most applications can work eg microsoft office, winrar etc. However got 1 problem, no driver for my canon i250 printer. Haiz...:shoot11:

Also cannot play games like warcraft 3. Went back to XP32 instead. :laugh5:

XP and 2k is same lah, how can faster. If want the xp/2k to run faster, after install all software, create another account, login as normal or power user, then the system will run a bit faster. Super user account load up many service that will dim the performance.

XP 64 is only useful for business, enterprise and heavyweight 3D/movie rendering where users need more than 4GB of memory...

but Web server with Win XP 64 would be overkill

XP more eye candy, just switch to the classic desktop(or something like that) to get back the Win2k look and disable all the animation, should run like Win2k already

I thought Longhorn and Vista is the same thing?
But last time people complain Windows XP not very stable as compared to Windows 2k. Still prefer Windows 2000. XP put too much rubbish inside already. Like what tour Windows XP all useless one.
