Win XP "show desktop" icon? wind Nov 16th, 05, 03:45 PM #1 (permalink)
juz recently migrated from win 98 to win xp. need to ask. how do i make the "show desktop" icon appear in win xp taskbar? (the icon that make all windows in desktop minimized)

I think u right click on the taskbar, it'll bring up a menu.
Move the mouse cursor to the toolbar menu item, and a sub menu will pop up. Look for Quicklaunch and check it. Hope this works.

Right click on taskbar, toolbar, quick launch

Well let me tell you what to do:
Goto C:\Documents and Settings\#\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\
And please replace the # with your user profile name!
and create a new text file
type in:
_____________________________
[Shell]
Command=2
IconFile=explorer.exe,3
[Taskbar]
Command=ToggleDesktop
_____________________________
and rename the file to "Show Desktop.scf"
And there you go.

Windows key + M
Hit both together like Ctrl-Alt-Del. Should work

It's better to use windows key + D. Hitting once shows desktop, hitting again shows whatever you were viewing before.
